Reporting directly to the Head of Adur Homes, you will lead a dedicated team to plan and deliver our major and minor capital investment programmes. You will hold absolute accountability for ensuring our housing stock meets all statutory and legislative obligations. You will lead from the front, utilising data to monitor contractor performance, managing robust procurement regimes, and working collaboratively with stakeholders and resident forums to guarantee absolute statutory compliance across the 'Big Six' property safety areas: fire, gas, asbestos, water hygiene, electrical, and lifts.

About You:

We need a technically competent, highly resilient leader who possesses the exact blend of rigorous expertise and professional drive required to get us inspection-ready. You must be able to demonstrate:

  • At least 3 years of experience within a Social Housing Asset Management environment, with an extensive track record of delivering major capital works and strict contract management.

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., RICS, MCIOB, MCABE, or an HNC/HND in Building Surveying/Construction with substantial sector experience).

  • Up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety, compliance requirements, and CDM regulations. CIH membership (Level 4 or higher) is highly desirable, or the willingness to achieve this at pace. Desirable safety qualifications (such as P405 Asbestos or Level 4 Fire Safety) will set you apart.

  • A passion for engaging with communities and ensuring that the voice of our 2,500 residents directly influences how asset management is delivered.

  • A valid driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use, and the flexibility to participate in our housing out-of-hours rota.

Why Join Us?

This is your opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact on a local community. You will be joining an organisation that values adaptability, creativity, and compassion in the workplace. Through our Blended Working Policy, we offer the flexibility to balance your professional and personal life while giving you the platform to lead an essential service through a period of meaningful change.

If you bring the qualifications we need and the ambition to transform our housing asset and compliance service for our community, we look forward to receiving your application.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Basic DBS check clearance.

At Adur & Worthing, we are committed to supporting care leavers, in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. To that end, we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for anyone meeting the essential criteria of the role they are applying for. In order to be considered for this, you will need to be a care leaver under the age of 25 at the time of application. Please confirm that you are a care leaver in the "Showing how you meet the person specification and job description" section of the application form.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of applicants declaring a disability, that meet the essential criteria for this position, will be offered an interview.

Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees. This includes:

  • Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 26 days + Bank Holiday entitlement

  • Local Government Pension

  • Training & development

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised.
