Are you excited by the potential of technology to transform public services? Barnsley Council is seeking a proactive and skilled Applications Development Support Officer to join our innovative AI and Automation Team, reporting directly to the AI and Automation Manager.
In this pivotal role, you will support the development, deployment, and maintenance of applications and automation solutions that drive efficiency and enhance service delivery across the council. You’ll work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure our digital tools meet the highest standards of reliability, security, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of application and automation projects using tools such as power automate, copilot studio and Azure AI.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed solutions.
- Collaborate with departments to gather requirements and deliver effective digital tools.
- Contribute to business cases for new applications and automation initiatives.
- Uphold best practices in data privacy, security, and ethical technology use.
- Help upskill colleagues by sharing knowledge and supporting training activities.
- Foster partnerships with internal teams and external experts to deliver impactful solutions.
About You:
- Experience supporting application development and automation projects, ideally within complex or public sector environments.
- Strong technical skills in software support, data analysis, and digital tools.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Salary range
- £24,796 - £38,220 per year
