Apprenticeships are high quality, work-based training programmes for people who want to develop their prospects and career. The programme provides work-based training to those who want to learn new skills and gain qualifications while working.

The Strategic Transport Planning and Investment (STPI) Team is looking to recruit an Apprentice who is committed and motivated to complete the 33 month programme.

Your main duties will be to support the team in the development of strategic transport policies, strategies and delivery plans and the delivery of projects within the Council’s Transport Capital Programme. You will be involved in the analysis of transport issues, the development of solutions, consultation with the public and stakeholders as well as supporting the team in the development and delivery of a pipeline of projects to support the Council’s growth and investment ambitions.

Your role will include support for:

  • Collection of necessary transport data and survey information
  • Assisting the team in analysis work to help inform strategy and project work.
  • Providing information on projects and strategies for inclusion in Committee Reports and Briefing Notes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project/technical reports, dashboards and other information relating to the delivery of projects, including the provision of accurate financial information.
  • Attendance at engagement activities - including reviews of potential schemes, site visits, contractor meetings, and on-site commissioning activities.
  • Contributing to site surveys and measurements.

This role combines both technical training with members of the team as well as studying towards a Level 3 Transport Planning Technician qualification with Chichester College, typically one day per week online learning course, with periodic in-person attendance required. There will be a requirement to attend Chichester College for an induction at the start of term (this may require an overnight stay due to the location and distance to the college). See link - Transport Planning Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship | Chichester College

The post will be based at Magdalen House, 30 Trinity Road, Bootle, L20 3NJ.
