
Apprentice Recruitment Administrator
Are you a task focused, people person who loves to learn and gain new skills? Do you enjoy getting through your list of varied tasks each day? And where needed do you like speaking to or emailing people to help you in completing those tasks? Then this is the role for you!
As an Apprentice Recruitment Administrator, you’ll be involved in all aspects of the recruitment process and wider activities to help us to attract and retain the best people in the jobs here at the council. Whilst in post you’ll also be completing your apprenticeship level 3 in Business Administration worth £5,000 and paid for by us!
So, we’re looking for someone who wants to earn as they learn their new skills and someone who is enthusiastic about providing a great experience for customers. This means talking to lots of different people, writing emails to confirm with them what we need them to do and tracking all of this in appropriate Microsoft applications and recruitment related systems.
The work we do aligns directly to one of the key measures for the council – Time to hire. This means we need to process our work in line with clear timescales making sure our work is of high quality and meets with all relevant policies and the law.
Main ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities in this post which you will be supported to be able to complete will include:
- Complete all administration tasks related to our end-to-end recruitment processes such as posting adverts, processing employment checks, assisting hiring managers and maintaining our recruitment system in line with policies and procedures
- Record all work accurately within the relevant systems and excel trackers we use to ensure we can easily understand progress of each candidate or job vacancy
- Supporting the Resourcing Advisors with general administration and recruitment-based activities such as jobs fairs/events, campaigns, social media and pulling together data and insight
- Provide advice and support to managers in accordance with the Council’s recruitment and selection processes and policies
- Be customer service focused and able to deal with recruitment enquiries from candidates, always representing the Staffordshire County Council employer brand
- Be a great communicator who can build relationships with hiring managers and candidates
- Be a champion for inclusive recruitment to ensure fair and equal opportunities for all
To be successful in this role you’ll need to have:
- Educated to GCSE level including English & Mathematics (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience in an office environment or an understanding of what working in an office environment involves
- A clear interest in processes relating to people, recruitment and the law.
- Good IT skills, know how to do the basics in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Teams, Excel
- Be able to spot something which doesn’t look quite right, or out of place (attention to detail) with the ability to work to deadlines
- Supporting customers by talking on teams calls and also writing and sending emails
- Ability to work as part of a team and understand that being a team player supports the overall performance of the team
What you’ll get from us
You’ll of course achieve your level 3 in Business Administration which will be delivered by a training provider remotely meaning you can do this from home/office using your work equipment, more information can be found here -Business administrator / Skills England
You’ll also be part of a super supportive team, and we’ll make sure we give you a great induction to our systems and processes and help you develop your skills in the human resources/people services sector whilst you gain your qualification.

Recruitment process
First stage will be your application form where we will ask a couple of questions about why you have applied for the role and what you think you can bring.
If we receive a high volume of applicants the next stage may be an automated video interview where we will send you a couple of questions for you to reply to with recorded video answers.
Final stage will be an in person assessment at our Stafford office which will include some interview questions and a quick task to test some of the skills needed for the basic elements of the role.
Final stage interview and assessment will be held week commencing 26th January 2026
