What we do
Licensing plays a vital role in supporting businesses within our borough, enabling high standards and keeping the public safe. Licensing is everywhere, and despite its role in everyday life it often goes unnoticed. Here in East Staffordshire, a small team of officers provide advice and guidance, deal with licensing enquiries, process applications, enforce the law and deal with complaints from members of the public regarding licensed premises or activities. We work closely with a variety of stakeholders including our partner organisations and local businesses. The work is varied and there is an opportunity to make a real difference.
What we are looking for
An enthusiastic individual who is committed to providing excellent customer service to join the Licensing team.
The successful candidate will work across the full local authority licensing, including Alcohol, Entertainment, Taxis, Gambling and Pavement Licensing. A very varied and fast paced role where full training and support will be provided.
This role will require some out of hours work on evenings and weekends and the ability to or willingness to work towards independent travel around the borough would be essential.
Essential Requirements
All candidates are required to meet the essential requirements set out below. Please address in the “Statement for Criteria to Fit Role” section of your application how you meet the following:
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (these
must include English and Maths) - Excellent IT Skills – Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
- Good Communication skills including report writing skills
- Ability to organise own workload and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to or willingness to work towards independent travel around the Borough
- Flexibility to work outside normal office hours including weekends
About the Apprenticeship Qualification
You will be given appropriate paid time off work to work towards completion of the Regulatory Compliance Officer – Level 4 apprenticeship qualification. It is important that you must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in the same or a similar subject.
