    Coventry is expanding with a growing population and a buoyant and increasing private rented sector. A key strategic priority for the Council is to keep residents safe and tackle poor housing conditions.

    The Council currently responds to complaints in the Private Rented Sector and the issues caused by the poor management of privately rented properties. These services and schemes offer an opportunity to work in a busy, high-profile environment dealing with the inspection and enforcement of all private rented homes.

    What is the job role?

    We are looking for Apprentice Compliance Officers to join our Safer Housing and Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Teams. You will be working under the general direction of the Safer Housing and HMO Licensing and Enforcement Team Managers, supporting key services provided to landlords, tenants, and residents in the city.

    You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a caseload, carrying out activities relating to the compliance of private sector housing and providing assistance to the Safer Housing Team Manager and other Officers conducting enforcement investigations.

    You will undertake the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer (Housing) Apprenticeship standard. Further information for this apprenticeship can be found on: https://www.csa-uk.com/mpage/l4-reg-compliance-housing

    This apprenticeship role is a fixed-term contract for 24 months in line with the length of the apprenticeship training.

    * The pre-interview is a short session to give the candidates further details of the apprenticeship role and to help them understand what to expect from and how to prepare for the final interview.

    Age at start of Apprenticeship 16-18: GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills Level 2.

    If not, you will be required to complete Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English as part of the apprenticeship.

    Age at start of Apprenticeship 19+:
    GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, e.g. Functional Skills Level 2.

    If not, you must achieve a minimum of Functional Skills Entry Level 3 as part of the assessment process.

    You will be given the option to undertake Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and/or English should you wish.
