This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly developing Centralised Brokerage Team, which sits within the System and Finance Service in Integrated Commissioning and Partnerships at Calderdale Council. The team supports Adult and Children’s Social Care directorates by arranging and purchasing care and support services for individuals with assessed care needs, ensuring that services are sourced in a timely, effective, and person-centred way. The team works closely with social care practitioners, health colleagues, providers, and commissioning teams to help individuals access the right support at the right time.

We are looking to recruit a motivated, organised, and customer-focused Apprentice Brokerage Support Officer to support the Brokerage Team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within adult and children social care brokerage while working towards a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration or Customer Services. The successful candidate will help deliver a high-quality service by supporting brokerage activities, maintaining accurate records, responding to enquiries, and assisting with the purchasing and arrangement of care services.

You will work closely with Brokerage Officers, social work teams, health professionals, care providers, commissioning colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include managing routine enquiries through shared inboxes and telephone lines, maintaining records on council systems, supporting the processing of care service purchases, and ensuring information is accurate and up to date. You will also assist in reviewing referrals, producing reports, coordinating meetings, and supporting the introduction of new technologies and working practices. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively in a busy environment while providing a compassionate and professional service.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C (or are willing to work towards achieving these qualifications) and will also demonstrate:

• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working with numerical information.
• Flexibility and willingness to undertake a variety of tasks and learn new skills.
• The ability to follow processes accurately while using judgement to resolve routine issues.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.

Closing Date: 21st October 2026

Interview Date: 4th and 6th November 2026.
