Our Apprentice Benefit Officer role offers you the chance to start your career in Local Government and be involved in shaping better outcomes for your local community.
As part of the Benefit Service, you will be supported to undertake and achieve a Revenues and Welfare Benefits Practitioner Level 4 (Higher) apprenticeship accredited by the Institute of Revenues, Rating & Valuation, and Skills England. The apprenticeship will be funded by the council, and you will be given time off for study as required for the duration of the apprenticeship which is typically 18 months depending on any previous qualifications achieved.
Once you complete your apprenticeship there is the potential to move through the career progression levels within the team and continue your career with us.
To be an effective Apprentice Benefits Officer, you will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, basic numeracy and literacy, and confidence using IT systems. Attention to detail is essential for processing claims accurately, along with empathy and discretion when handling sensitive information. You should be organised, a good team player, and open to learning and development through training and support.
