    Our team has gone through an exciting transformation review and as part of this, we have invested in innovative technology and developed a new model of working that makes the broader aspects of sustainability everyone’s responsibility. The new model of working will enable the core team to have a bigger impact throughout the organisation and deliver more.

    This is a brilliant opportunity to join the team at this pivotal time to help the Council and its partners to articulate a range of interventions using data and insight and, be responsible for monitoring the impact of a range of transformational projects and workstreams that will help the have a positive impact on the economy, society and environment.

    To ensure delivery of future workstreams, we are seeking to recruit an initiative-taking, curious and knowledgeable analyst, who will collaborate closely with existing members of the team and support colleagues to help deliver a Sustainable Barnsley.

    We are keen to hear from candidates that are strong communicators that pay close attention-to-detail and are enthusiastic about the broader aspects of sustainability and can articulate the co-benefits.

    We would especially like to hear from anyone that has knowledge and/ or experience of:

    • UN Sustainable Development Goals
    • Circular Economy Principles
    • Green House Reporting / ISSB standards
    • Other relevant emission reporting frameworks
    • Power BI
    • Bid writing
    • Climate change mitigation adaptation and resilience (nature-based solutions to support nature recovery)
    • Public Sector Procurement (enhancing social value)

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Representing the service area and contributing at regular thematic local and regional meetings.
    • Keeping professionally up to date with relevant government policy, legislation, and best practice.
    • Developing strategies, technical reports and presentations.
    • Contributing to local, regional, and national policy developments.
    • Supporting on the development of bid submissions, tender preparations and statutory returns to regional and central government.
    • Support project staff to monitor and report on key performance indicators and service outcomes.

    The right individual will be able to juggle multiple priorities, deliver excellent customer service and drive continuous improvement. Strong communication, negotiation and organisations skills are essential, along with a flexible approach to working hours, occasional travel and a willingness to learn new skills.
