We are looking for a passionate and dedicated AMHP Service Manager to join our amazing team and help make a difference today.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced AMHP to manage the Southwark day‑time AMHP Service and lead on related issues across the department. You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and effective Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service in line with current legislation, Council policy and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overall management and coordination of the day‑time AMHP service, including the AMHP rota.
- Line management and supervision of an Advanced Practitioner, two full‑time AMHPs and a Business Support Officer.
- Providing professional leadership, guidance and support on complex assessments.
- Supporting and supervising AMHPs across the borough, including coordinating and leading the AMHP forum.
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key partners including the Mental Health Trust, Police and other stakeholders.
About You:
You will be an experienced and confident AMHP with strong leadership skills and a sound knowledge of relevant mental health legislation. You will thrive in a busy environment and be able to manage competing priorities effectively.
You will bring:
- Current AMHP qualification and significant post‑qualification experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act and associated legislation.
- Proven experience of supervising and managing staff.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet service demands.
- Experience of multi‑agency working and partnership development.
- A commitment to high‑quality practice, service improvement and professional development.
