Join our Planning Policy team and help us deliver a new Local Plan for the Town.

You’ll work alongside Planning Policy Officers, in a varied role where you’ll use a variety of systems to maintain information, maintain high-quality records and support statutory processes and help the team meet deadlines relating to planning policy development.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with Planning Officers, you’ll take responsibility for ensuring our information systems are accurate. You’ll also help keep our public-facing information clear and up to date.

You’ll also support payments and financial administration. You’ll assist with providing information to external organisations, other council officers and councillors. You’ll be part of a friendly team environment where you’ll also help share knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing ideas to improve processes and ways of working.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is organised, accurate and confident communicating with different audiences, and who can balance competing priorities calmly.

Essential:

We’re looking for someone who enjoys keeping things organised and accurate, and who can stay on top of a workload with changing priorities. You’ll bring a good general standard of education (including GCSE or equivalent English and Maths), strong attention to detail, and confidence communicating clearly in writing and over the phone with a wide range of organisations and colleagues. Ideally, you’ll have experience in an administrative role within a planning or other regulatory setting. You’ll also be confident using Microsoft 365 and learning specialist systems, and you’ll understand the importance of confidentiality and GDPR when managing sensitive information and maintaining reliable records.

Desirable:

If you’ve worked in local authority planning team before that will be an advantage. We’re also equally interested in people who can pick up new processes quickly and enjoy developing their skills in a supportive team environment.

Working pattern

Mixture of office and home working, with flexibility to meet service demands.
