Are you organised, friendly and looking for a varied role in a busy primary school?

Mossley CofE Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Administration Assistant to join our school team.

This is a varied and rewarding role, providing essential administrative support across the school and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our busy school office. You will be an important point of contact for pupils, parents, staff, visitors and external organisations, so we are looking for someone who is approachable, professional and able to communicate confidently with a wide range of people.

No two days are quite the same in school administration! You will need to be able to manage competing priorities, work accurately to deadlines and remain calm and positive when things get busy.

About the role

Working as part of our administration team, you will provide support across a wide range of school activities, including:

  • Providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for parents, pupils, visitors and telephone enquiries.
  • Providing general administrative and clerical support, including correspondence, filing, record keeping and data entry.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil and staff records and supporting admissions and pupil transfers.
  • Supporting the administration of school finances, including processing orders and invoices, maintaining records and carrying out routine checks and reconciliations.
  • Supporting school trips, events and other school activities.
  • Assisting with staff recruitment and personnel administration, including maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
  • Supporting the administration of school medical arrangements and pupil information.
  • Liaising with parents, staff, suppliers and external organisations as required.
  • Responding appropriately to routine enquiries and ensuring more complex queries or concerns are passed to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Carrying out other administrative duties to support the effective running of the school.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, confidentiality and the ability to prioritise work effectively. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while also being a positive and supportive member of our school team.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working in an administrative or office environment.
  • Is highly organised and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is confident using IT and common office software.
  • Can deal sensitively and professionally with confidential information.
  • Is approachable, friendly and able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Can remain calm and professional when faced with competing demands.
  • Has the initiative to recognise what needs to be done and can work independently when appropriate.
  • Is willing to learn and develop their knowledge of school systems and procedures.

Previous experience of working in a school would be advantageous, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with strong administrative experience who are looking for an opportunity to develop their skills within a school environment.

Why join Mossley CofE Primary School?

At Mossley, we believe that our administration team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, efficient and supportive school environment.

You will be joining a friendly and committed team where your contribution is valued and where there is plenty of opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills. This is a role that offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to make a real difference to the day-to-day experience of our pupils, families and staff.

If you are organised, positive and enjoy working with people, we would love to hear from you.
