The Governors of St. Jerome’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint two Level 2 Teaching Assistants to support EYFS pupils with additional needs.

The role would involve 1 to 1 support within the class under the guidance and direction of the class teacher.

The posts are 30 hours per week, to start as soon as possible.

The positions are fixed for one year in the first instance as they are dependent on High Needs Funding and may cease if the funding ends or the child leaves the school. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The posts are subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and safer recruitment checks.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a recognised teaching assistant qualification at a minimum of Level 2 or similar.
  • Has experience with supporting a child with additional needs.
  • Has experience of working with EYFS pupils and understands how they learn best.
  • Has experience of working with children who have SEND on a 1 to 1 or within a group; supporting their learning, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Has experience of working with children who need support with communication and anxieties related to social pressures and new situations.
  • Has experience of working with parents of children with additional needs.
  • Is genuine in their desire to work with children as part of an inclusive, committed and caring team.
  • Is enthusiastic, flexible and has a sense of humour.
  • Is able to work as part of a team.
  • Sets high expectations for themselves and children.
