The Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) hosted by Merton Council is one of the largest Environmental Health Services in London, with the Food and Safety Team responsible for overseeing more than 6,000 food businesses in Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth. Data Quality Support Officer

Our aim is to assist as many residents as possible in the private sector and make sure our work has a positive impact on those in need of housing adaptations currently suffering financial hardship.You will be responsible for a complex case load, including the design and production of work packages needed for planning, building regulations and tendering, for extensions and garage conversion cases. You will be involved with each case from start to completion, including surveys and feasibility visits. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and supervising the team of Surveyors by answering questions, reviewing their work and drawings when necessary, and assisting at all stages of the process to deliver mandatory Disabled Facilities Grants. You will be supervised by and report directly to the Disabled Facilities Grants Manager.What will you be doing?The role of Private Sector Housing Senior Surveyor will be varied yet rewarding. You will be making key decisions for construction projects, preparing technical schedules of work / specifications and drawings as well as ensuring quality and compliance with contractors. <ul><li>To provide overall support and oversight of the production of design packages for tender for complex cases, to ensure that it meets internal policy; statutory and good practice requirements, to minimise the risks to the authority and protect public health.</li><li>To have direct supervisory responsibilities of the other surveyors in the DFG Team.</li><li>To make key decisions autonomously on construction project related matters which may affect approved works and budgets.</li><li>To visit clients in their own homes to discuss their needs and advise on adaptations available to them in conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Service.</li><li>To liaise with external consultants, including architects, engineers, solicitors, banks, building societies, the Occupational Therapy Service, social workers and voluntary organisations where necessary to make timely progress with cases.</li><li>To carry out feasibility visits for complex cases such as extensions and garage conversions and offer alternative solutions to satisfy the client’s needs and meet the OT recommendation.</li><li>To produce scaled drawings in AutoCAD, as required to meet the needs and criteria of planning and building regulations submissions and tender packages.</li><li>To understand the responsibilities of the client and the principal designer under the current CDM Regulations.</li><li>To obtain quotations from approved contractors and / or contractors requested by clients, complete evaluations and make recommendations accordingly.</li><li>To co-ordinate and submit applications for planning permission, building regulations approval and party wall where appropriate. </li><li>To attend pre-start meetings, interim site inspections, final inspections and check on works progress; to act on the client’s behalf in any negotiations while the contractor is on site. </li><li>To collate all necessary certification / warranties and approve contractor payments before submitting for final authorisation.</li><li>To monitor expenditure against agreed contracts and budgets, making recommendations for payment when necessary.</li></ul>About youPresentation of portfolio is required at the job interview.
