The appointment will be for a Contextual Safeguarding Practitioner to join the new Contextual Safeguarding &amp; Housing Pathway Team to support positive outcomes for children, typically adolescents who are affected by extra familial harm, the criminal justice and care systems.The service is committed to prevent offending, reduce re-offending, and safeguard children from intra and extra familial harm. We have achieved this through innovative practice and delivery of several government funded initiatives such as Turnaround, Engage, Your Choice, the National Referral Mechanism pilot, and an in-service Health &amp; Wellbeing Hub.Lewisham was chosen to be a DFE Pathfinder authority to test the social care reforms. The Integrated Adolescent Service have led the testing of the Multi-agency Adolescent Protection &amp; Adolescent Family Help Teams to establish improved pathways for children at risk of extra-familial harm or with other vulnerabilities typically experienced by adolescents. The appointed person will work closely with colleagues across the service, Family/Youth Hubs, and partnership as well as delivery of specialist projects and interventions.We are committed to using relational and strength-based approaches as we recognise that this works best for children affected by extra-familial harm, the criminal justice system and on the edge of care. Extensive knowledge of both traditional and modern Upholstery techniques is essential, and additional Soft Furnishing skills would be an advantage, but not essential. &nbsp;The post is currently to teach one non-accredited evening course per week at the Granville Park centre- on either a Tuesday or Thursday. The Head of Payroll and Pensions forms part of the senior leadership team in the Finance Service, reporting to the Director of Finance (deputy S151).The Payroll service has recently been restructured with the following outcomes achieved:<ul> <li>To review staffing levels in the light of the loss of some academies and efficiencies gained through the introduction of Oracle.</li> <li>To introduce a flatter management structure which will facilitate more succession planning and a career path for staff working in the service.</li> <li>For comparability and consistency with the pensions service which has already been through its own restructuring process.</li> <li>To provide an improved service to customers through the introduction of clearer and more consistent job descriptions and person specifications linked to a well-defined learning and development plan for all staff working in the service.</li></ul>There are two roles available, the Head of Payroll and Pensions and the Payroll Manager.What’s the role?As the Head of Payroll and Pensions you will be the strategic lead and responsible for Lewisham Councils payroll and pensions services. The annual payroll for the Council is over £170m and the value of the Lewisham LGPS is circa £1.85bn.&nbsp;As a member of the Finance Leadership team you will contribute to the overall leadership and management of the Finance function by taking leadership of the payroll and pensions service. Building Control Surveyor x 2
About the role:
We are looking to appoint 2 self-motivated and ambitious registered Building Control Surveyors to join our highly professional and successful Building Control Team.
You will need to hold min Class 2F or 3 registrations with the Building Safety Regulator and have Chartered Member, Member or Fellow Chartered Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or alternative acceptable professional body.
You will be responsible for undertaking plan assessment, site inspections and enforcement work across a wide spectrum of works ranging from small domestic projects up to large complex commercial developments subject to the Registration class of the successful candidate.
In addition, the role involves assessing and undertaking any reasonable actions to protect the public from dangerous structures, unauthorised works, demolition work and works that form obstructions to the public highway and participation in the Councils out of hours emergency call out service.
About the candidate:
You will have substantial experience and understanding of the role and functions of Building Control and have a sound knowledge of the Building Regulations, Approved Documents, allied legislation and enforcement procedures.
You’ll have experience of dealing with dangerous buildings and structures and implementing enforcement action when necessary.
Hold Corporate Membership of CABE / RICS or acceptable alternative.
You’ll need to hold Class 2F or 3 Registration with the Building Safety Regulator in respect of Plans assessment and inspection activities.
You’ll need to be able to participate in the Councils out of hours emergency call out service.
You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills and be able to work both individually and as part of a team.
You will hold a full, valid driving licence and have unrestricted use of a suitable vehicle for business purposes or be able to otherwise demonstrate the ability to travel to locations in an efficient and timely manner.
