About you, and your responsibilities:&nbsp;
You might have experience from a Local Authority background, from a school, college, or Early Years background, you might come from a Health Service or third sector background too. Certainly, you’ll have a good knowledge and experience of the SEN system, and you will have a demonstrable understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, and you’ll be aware of changes that might be coming in the SEN system, and what that might mean for councils, schools, and most of all children and young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;
For those wanting to join our PFA team, you’ll have an understanding of what it means to Prepare for Adulthood, and a working knowledge of the concept of post-16 and post-18 provision and placements.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You’ll be good at communicating, able to share the positive and the difficult messages which come with SEN, confident in the knowledge that your managers and local leaders will support you. You’ll do this with empathy, with kindness, but also with clearness and confidence.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You’ll be well organised and able to balance competing priorities day to day, and you’ll understand why good record keeping is important, and most importantly, do it. You’ll understand that SEN is not just the school or setting, not just the Council, not just the Health Service, but that we all have a part to play, when, how, and why.&nbsp;

Barnsley Libraries serve as community and digital hubs which anchor the council’s presence in across the borough, developing a vibrant events and activities programme to attract and engage residents and visitors to the borough. The Library@TheLightbox represents one of the key parts of the ‘The Glassworks’ and the Council’s ambitious, transformative town centre redevelopment scheme. To help us continue to deliver our exciting public offer, we have a part-time vacancy for a Library and Digital Support Officer based primarily at Grimethorpe Library (working alternate Saturdays at Cudworth Library).&nbsp; As a Library &amp; Digital Support Officer you will be the public face of our service.&nbsp; Our libraries are not just about books but are so much more.&nbsp; For our Library Information &amp; Digital Support Officers no two days are the same – you may be helping customers with their book choices, letting them know about our digital offers and helping them to get up and running with these, or doing something more interactive such as running craft or activities such as story and rhyme sessions. You’ll work with partners across the authority in areas such as Communities, Public Health, Museums and Schools to deliver exciting things for our customers. Part of the role will also involve carrying out customer service appointments on behalf of our colleagues in other departments for service users.
We are looking for people who engage well with others, are hard-working and can rise to a challenge. You’ll not be afraid to get involved and will have the skills to think on your feet dealing with whatever arises in the most appropriate manner. Although you will have a base library you could be asked to work across all our libraries, so you need to be flexible and able to do this.

Job Title: Local Authority Designated Officer Starting Salary: £48,226 progressing to £53,460 per annum (pro rata for part time) Hours: 37.0 Location: Countywide Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Childrens Services<h4>About the team</h4>The LADO service is the Local Authority’s statutory function for managing and overseeing allegations and concerns against professionals who work with children. The LADOs have a key role to provide specialist advice, guidance and training to organisations who employ staff in the children’s workforce and provide services to children in Hertfordshire. The service has a statutory responsibility to ensure the necessary investigations are carried out where necessary considering multifaceted perspectives of employment, child protection, criminal and regulation ensuring staff are treated fairly and supported to improve practice where possible but also to ensure those responsible for managing staff do so effectively making sure risks to children from the workforce are mitigated and reported to the necessary bodies such as DBS. The team members hold a significant amount of safeguarding experience, the service is fast paced with staff undertaking fast paced and complex child protection activities on a duty basis working with a vast range of statutory agencies, partner agencies and regulatory bodies.
