Safeguarding and DOLS Team Support Worker

Job Description Job Title:&nbsp;ASB &amp; Enforcement Officer Salary: £39,027 - £44,463&nbsp;per annum Band: E Permanent&nbsp;Contract 37 Hours per Week Thurrock Council's dedication to tackling environmental crime saw its Environmental Enforcement Officers named Team of the Year at the Keep Britain Tidy National Awards in February 2020. Thurrock Council’s ASB &amp; Enforcement Team are looking to recruit an innovative and ‘can do’ ASB &amp; Enforcement Officer to deliver a wide range of enforcement activities to bring about local improvements for the communities in Thurrock.&nbsp; In this challenging role you will working collaboratively with internal and external partners to tackle Enviro-crime and Anti-Social Behaviour issues across the borough, proactively responding to a high level of customer service demand. Knowledge of Enforcement is essential including, The Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Highways Act 1988, Refuse &amp; Disposal Amenity Act 1978, Clean Neighbourhoods Environment Act 2005 and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. To conduct investigations, experience and working knowledge of PACE 1984, CPIA 1996, RIPA 2000, and relevant codes of practice are essential. As an ASB &amp; Enforcement Officer, you will be required to have a strong commitment to improving the Borough and the ability to participate and deliver actions to make a difference. This role will report directly to the Exchequer Services Manager and will provide day to day operational support within the team to ensure that all processes are in place and accurate records are maintained.
Your role will include:

<li>Monitor and manage the mailbox, ensuring all invoices and payment requests are downloaded, indexed and recorded accurately and promptly to avoid delays in meeting payment deadlines.</li>
<li>Ensure all supplier invoices are registered in accordance with the Council’s payment policy supporting the statutory requirement to pay within 30 days.</li>
<li>Process journals prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy and proper coding in line with internal financial controls.</li>
<li>Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with relevant departments and suppliers, ensuring accurate and authorised payments are processed.</li>
<li>Maintain regular communication with colleagues across all directorates, as well as with external suppliers to support the timely resolution of invoice or payment related queries.</li>
<li>Reconcile supplier statements regularly, following up on outstanding items and discrepancies to maintain accurate ledger balances.</li>
<li>Contribute to the development and improvement of the Team’s internal administrative procedures by identifying problems and possible solutions.</li>
<li>Provide ad hoc support to the team as required.</li>

This position will require limited weekend work to check and feed the animals. Hours will be fairly flexible depending on the needs of the farm and will be discussed at interview.
