Job Description Job Title: Casual Trainer Salary: £15.16 per hour Grade: C Contract: Zero-hour Casual Contract on an As &amp; When Required Basis An exciting opportunity has arisen for Casual Trainers to work within the Caring for Thurrock Business Team supporting the Residential and Community teams by providing mandatory training courses for around 300 staff within the Services. The Services provide care support to vulnerable adults either within their own homes or within Residential settings. Casual Trainers will be required to deliver training on moving and handling, medication and safeguarding to new staff and to existing staff as refresher sessions.&nbsp; The role will be working as part of a team to ensure training is provided on a regular basis (weekly/monthly/annually) to all the teams/staff within Caring for Thurrock. You must be able to provide at least 12 training sessions a year, this should be either at the Civic Offices in Grays, Collins House Residential Home in Corringham or one of our other sites across the borough so willingness to travel around the borough is essential.&nbsp; Casual Trainers will need to be able to collate information within spreadsheets and attend regular meetings with internal and external customers. Existing experience of delivering training sessions is preferred but not essential as further training and support will be provided to ensure compliance. The type of person who will be suitable for this role will need to be organised and committed to meeting the tight deadlines that will be in place. About the Role
As Property Officer at Erewash Borough Council, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the Council’s property assets - driving innovation, sustainability, and value during this exciting period of change.
What You Will Do
As the Property Officer you will help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes. This includes preparing specifications and tender documents, procuring contractors, managing budgets and ensuring all works comply with building regulations and legislation. You will also carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance and update maintenance plans to ensure assets remain safe, well-maintained and cost-effective.
A key part of the role is ensuring strong health and safety compliance, including areas such as Working at Height, Asbestos, Legionella and CDM Regulations. You will also support colleagues in Engineering, Building Compliance and Corporate Health &amp; Safety, helping keep the Council’s buildings safe, compliant and fit for public use.
The role also involves making informed decisions about how maintenance and repair work is prioritised, ensuring buildings remain safe and in good condition. You will check the quality of contractor work, recommend repair actions and confirm when work meets the required standards. Strong financial responsibility is essential, as you will manage budgets, monitor spending, and certify contractor payments in line with contract requirements.
In addition, you will work closely with a range of internal teams and external partners. This includes collaborating with contractors, colleagues across the Council and specialist services to support sustainability, energy efficiency and the effective delivery of building projects.

About You
You will have:

<li>Experience managing building maintenance programmes, undertaking building inspections, and managing contracted building repairs.</li>
<li>A degree in surveying or HNC/HND level qualification in a building construction related field.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, Health &amp; Safety legislation, and the ability to use IT software including Microsoft Office packages.</li>
<li>Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations.</li>
