You will be based at any one of our Area Housing Offices working as part of a Repairs team. You will carry out a wide range of duties across our varied 15,000 housing stock, together with our asset portfolio of corporate operational, commercial and community assets including schools. You will predominantly be attending day to day repairs, updating stock data, evaluating and diagnosing what work is required, assessing the best options to carry out the work and issuing response repairs. Skills: You need to: 1. Be able to demonstrate sufficient relevant experience and knowledge of general day to day response repairs in a housing or commercial environment. 2. Have good building construction technology and building pathology knowledge together with the ability to evaluate and diagnose what work is required, assess the best options to carry out the work and issuing response repairs and advising others. 3. Have a knowledge of building related legislation as appropriate to the role and be able to apply as necessary. 4. Have knowledge and experience of construction related health &amp; safety legislation knowledge generally and be able to apply specifically the working at height regulations, and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. 5. Practical surveying skills that can be demonstrated; specifically, be able to carry out stock data and measured surveys, accurately recording stock data as appropriate. 6. Demonstrating you can manage a contractor using a contract, negotiating contractual matters and resolution of disputes with contractors. 7. Have knowledge and experience of cost control techniques and be able to demonstrate commercial awareness when undertaking cost estimates for larger repair work, exercise financial control when managing work and assess value for money for work undertaken when auditing completed repairs. Demonstrate analytical skills to be able to interrogate, analyse and evaluate previous repair information 8. Have relevant knowledge and experience of all Microsoft packages and demonstrate practical IT skills using Excel spreadsheets or Word when writing reports or letters and be capable of using various other software packages with appropriate training to accurately update data as part of undertaking the surveying role. 9. Have planning skills and demonstrate the ability to be organised and methodical when undertaking inspections to ensure effective time management. 10. Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrate the ability to be a good communicator developing relationships with clients and customers, understanding their aspirations, managing expectations and ensuring that excellent communication occurs to ensure that they are fully informed regarding the repairs and maintenance of their assets, particularly as most repairs and maintenance work is undertaken in occupation whilst our residents are living in their homes or commercial buildings are operational. 11. Have a full driving licence and provide a car for work, as you will be visiting various sites across Portsmouth and will need to travel effectively between them.

As Head of Facilities Management, you will lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of a fully integrated FM service using a co-ordinated delivery model. Your key responsibilities will include: 
 
 - Delivering statutory Corporate Landlord responsibilities, including hard services (building maintenance) and soft services (cleaning, security, etc.) across all corporate buildings and facilities. 
 - Ensuring the Council’s facilities are safe, clean, compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose, through planned, cyclical, and reactive maintenance programmes. 
 - Leading and delivering the Council’s ambition to become Net Zero by 2030, working with sustainability teams to embed environmental principles in all FM operations. 
 - Overseeing a combination of in-house teams and external contractors to deliver a high-performing, value-driven FM service.

 - Driving service improvement, innovation, and transformation, establishing and monitoring KPIs, performance metrics, and compliance obligations. 
 - Developing a high-performing FM team, embedding talent management, staff development, and holding others to account for results. 
 - Delivering major capital planned works across corporate, housing, compliance, and de-carbonisation programmes. 
 - Supporting Hard Services and Soft Services managers to ensure day-to-day maintenance, office setups, cleaning, reception, security, and emergency readiness are well executed across all Council sites. 
 
Leadership, Strategy and Innovation 
 
 - Provide strong leadership, motivation, and clear direction to the FM team, aligning operations with Council goals and best practice. 
 - Embed best-in-class technical delivery through a multi-disciplinary in-house function, and drive ambitious transformation of the FM service. 
 - Develop Council-wide Maintenance &amp; FM policy under the Procurement Guide and Contracts Procedure Rules. 
 - Champion innovation and collaboration, exploring new delivery models and funding sources (e.g., grants, S106) to optimise service and resource efficiency. 
 - Lead the Council’s Corporate Landlord technical delivery, driving implementation of the SAMP (2019–2024) and CIPFA Corporate Landlord principles. 
 
Governance, Compliance &amp; Risk 
 
 - Ensure all FM operations comply with legislation, including the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, and are formally documented via council compliance systems. 
 - Oversee risk assessments, statutory inspections, audits, and compliance-related activities across all assets. 
 - Take overall accountability for timely and comprehensive responses to Freedom of Information requests, complaints, and Member enquiries relating to FM. 
 - Ensure contract and procurement processes follow Council Contract Procedure Rules and relevant industry standards.

Bourne Hall Museum&nbsp;is seeking a highly organised and knowledgeable Assistant to work alongside the Curator on our museum collections and the stories they tell. We are seeking a strong individual to bring excellent customer service and high standards to our car parking service. Working across the Borough and within a busy operations office, you will help keep our multi-storey and surface car parks running smoothly, providing excellent customer care under sometimes demanding situations and enforcing parking regulations in our car parks.
You will provide direct customer care from our Main Square car park office either by phone, intercom or face to face. Full training will be given on our ICT systems, payment systems and pay stations. You will also be expected to provide information on car park related matters to the public throughout your role.
About You
You will be self-confident, have excellent customer facing skills, be practical and presentable, have a current driving license to carry out mobile patrols and hold the relevant qualification (Civil Enforcement Officer Level 2) or be experienced in the knowledge of parking legislation, equipment and enforcement.

We are looking for a reliable and calm Evening Security and Caretaker to support the safety, security and smooth running of our central offices, annexe building and Borough Hall during evening hours.
This is an important role that helps ensure our buildings remain safe, well-presented and welcoming for staff, members and the public.
Working largely independently during evening shifts, you will oversee building security, respond effectively to emergencies, and support evening meetings and events. You’ll also liaise with colleagues such as the evening receptionist and cleaning staff to ensure high standards are maintained.
The most important qualities for this role are:
* Ability to work confidently both alone and as part of a team, following verbal and written instructions and using initiative when required
* Calm and effective response in emergencies, including security incidents, fire or lift evacuations
* Commitment to maintaining safe, well-presented buildings, with a strong focus on customer care and professionalism
This is a part time role working Monday and Friday from 5pm to 9pm.&nbsp;
Experience in a similar caretaking or security role, and confidence in lone working, will be an advantage. Training will be provided where required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Sefton Council to appoint a 36-hour permanent role for a Crematorium Operative in Sefton Bereavement Services Team.
The role sits in the Bereavement Services Team, within In House Operational Services based in Thornton Garden of Rest/Southport Crematorium.
As part of the team in this role you will be responsible for all cremation duties of the deceased as well as chapel duties and maintenance works, customer and deceased care, and memorial queries throughout the year and ensuring that due care and attention to detail is at the highest standards in line with Sefton Council policies and the Job Description.
As a Crematorium Operative you will be tasked with ensuring safety is always monitored and any issues reported to be resolved immediately as well the process of undertaking the cremation of the deceased is dignified and respectful at all times. 14 hours per month contractual overtime will also be paid to cover out of hours duties of the service where required.
The Crematoria service undertakes circa 2400 cremations per annum as well as 600 burials per annum and provides a high-quality service to the bereaved.
This is an exciting time to join Bereavement Services at Sefton as the service is now on a journey to become more digitally friendly and provide a more modern funeral service to the people of Sefton and surrounding areas.

About The Role
As a Housing Standards Officer you will be joining the dedicated Private Sector Housing Team.&nbsp; Your primary focus will be ensuring the quality and standard of privately rented housing in Charnwood.&nbsp; You’ll do this by responding to complaints about disrepair from private tenants, building good relationships with landlords and tenants, completing inspections and reports. We’re committed to your personal and professional development and we’ll offer training to you if you need it.
This is a hybrid role and we’re flexible to your preference on the amount of time that you work from home or from the office.&nbsp; The role includes on-site visits and inspections in the Charnwood area.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Children in Care and Care Leavers Team covering Stafford and South Staffs, supporting care leavers aged 16 – 25 years old.&nbsp;Our dedicated leaving care service includes Social Workers and Personal Advisors who provide vital support and advice to our Care Leavers during their transition from living in care to adult life.You'll work alongside other professionals from a range of disciplines including, social workers, accommodation providers, housing, welfare benefits, mental health professionals, substance misuse services and employment support.Through these multiple relationships you will help prepare young adults to ensure they are supported within their journey to independence.
