This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Business and Commercial Lead Officer to drive income generation, manage commercial contract compliance, project management and procurement compliance. This is a key leadership role, responsible for identifying and delivering commercial opportunities, improving financial sustainability, and supporting service contract delivery.
You will work closely with senior leaders to shape and implement commercial strategies, ensuring that opportunities are aligned with corporate priorities and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial activities within the waste and environment team
- Manage budgets, timelines, risks, and stakeholders effectively
- Manage, lead and guide the administrative team
- Support procurement and contract management activities
- Drive service improvements and innovation within waste and environmental operations
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and partners
- Provide clear reporting and governance to senior leadership
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Proven project management experience (ideally with recognised qualification e.g. PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent experience)
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience of contracts, procurement, or supplier management
- Experience within the waste, environmental, or local government sector
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Ability to manage complexity and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

Salary range
- £44,209 - £47,107 per year
