🌱 Be the Difference: What Early Help Workers Do

As an Early Help Worker, you will play a crucial frontline role in helping children, young people, and families at the earliest opportunity. You will act as the Lead Professional, supporting families who need help at Level 2 on the St Helens Descriptors of Need.

You will work with children from pre‑birth to 18 years, delivering support both in their homes and in the community. You will help families who may be facing challenges such as:

• Domestic abuse
• Mental health difficulties
• Substance misuse
• Behaviour and parenting challenges
• Neglect
• Relationship or family breakdown
• Poverty or stress-related difficulties

Your focus will be on empowering families—helping them understand what’s going well, what needs to change, and how to build on their strengths to achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing

• Carrying out holistic, family-centred assessments
• Developing and reviewing support plans tailored to each family
• Acting as Lead Professional, coordinating multi-agency support
• Delivering evidence-based interventions with families
• Building meaningful relationships through regular home and community visits
• Maintaining high-quality case recordings and documentation
• Keeping the Voice of the Child central to all decisions
• Managing risk and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
• Participating in reflective supervision and ongoing training
• Being a positive role model for families and partners

👤 Who Should Apply?

We are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference and have:

• A professional qualification in statutory or community services
• Experience working directly with children, young people, and families
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child development
• Experience completing assessments and creating support plans
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to inclusive and anti‑discriminatory practice
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (or an alternative plan if unable to drive due to disability)
