About the role

Join Crawley Homes and play a key role in shaping the future of our housing stock. As a Stock Condition Surveyor, you will undertake detailed surveys of our homes, assessing the condition and remaining lifespan of key building components, to provide the robust asset intelligence to inform our Planned Maintenance Programme and long-term asset management strategy.

This is a role that combines technical expertise with a strong customer focus. You will engage directly with residents to understand their homes, circumstances, and individual needs, ensuring that investment decisions are informed by both property condition and the lived experiences of our communities. As a representative of Crawley Homes, you will deliver an inclusive and professional service, treating everyone with dignity, respect, and courtesy, while helping us deliver healthy homes and excellent customer outcomes.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and contractors, you will support the delivery of major investment programmes, including kitchen, bathroom, roofing, and window replacement projects. Through high-quality surveys, specifications, inspections, and data collection, you will help ensure that our homes remain safe, sustainable, and fit for the future, while providing residents with the quality homes they deserve.

We are looking for a proactive, personable, and technically competent surveying professional passionate about improving homes and communities. You will have a keen eye for detail, sound judgement, and the ability to assess building condition and identify investment needs with confidence. Just as importantly, you will be someone who enjoys engaging with residents, listening to their experiences, and building positive relationships with a wide range of people.

You will be organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities, while working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver excellent outcomes. If you are committed to providing outstanding customer service, thrive in a varied role that combines technical expertise with people-focused problem solving, and want to make a real difference to the quality of social housing, we would love to hear from you.

Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.

Additional information

Standard 37 hour week, flexible working location, mainly out on site.

Satisfactory clearance of a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be a condition of employment.

Employee benefits

We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.

At Crawley Borough Council, you will have access to a structured programme of learning from day one, designed to help you succeed in your role and grow your career.
