Join us in making a real difference to the residents of South Hams and West Devon.
South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council are committed to supporting residents and strengthening communities across our area by responding to cost of living and other financial pressures. In response, the Councils have created a Financial Advice and Support Team dedicated to providing the right support at the right time.
The Council’s Financial Advice and Support Team is responsible for administering crisis support schemes, discretionary funds and working with partners to deliver financial resilience activities that help residents improve their circumstances. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the service and make a meaningful difference to the lives of local people.
In this interesting and varied role, you will ensure the interests of residents are at the heart of everything the team delivers. You will lead by example in a customer-focused environment, oversee high-quality service delivery and identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes for those who need support the most.
You will bring strong experience in administering welfare, financial support, hardship schemes, or similar assessment-based services, along with the ability to manage and supervise a small team effectively. As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the service, including oversight of crisis funding, heating oil support, housing-related payments and other financial assistance such as income maximisation activities. Just as importantly, you will be confident working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to improve residents’ financial resilience and access to support.
