    A really exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Tractor Driver Operative within our Greenspaces Team. The role is preferably looking for a candidate with previous experience in the Sports Turf industry to lead our sports pitch annual maintenance plan. The functions of the role will prioritise the aeration, scarification, selective herbicide control, fertilising, top dressing & over seeding of as many as 130 pitches across the city whilst supporting our requirement to undertake regular Pitch Power assessments, reporting on the ongoing condition of our playing surfaces.

    • As part of the role of Tractor Driver Operative within the Greenspaces Service you will be required to carry out a operate a range of tractors and associated equipment in order to maintain amenity grassland, sports turf, ecological grassed areas, wildflower meadows, hedges, shrubberies and other general greenspace features.
    • In the role of Tractor Driver Operative you will be required to operate Combi Tractor Mowers, rotary gang mowers, rear flails, front end loaders, sports turf related renovation equipment and timber trailers and grabs. You will be required to carry out a range of tasks, including, but not limited to, large scale grass cutting, leaf clearance, renovation works, bucket work, flail and side-arm flail operations.
    • As a Tractor Driver Operative you must be competent in operating large plant, machinery & equipment, working alone or as part of a team to deliver specified targets whilst ensuring any hazards associated with your operations are minimised.

    To be eligible to apply for the role you must hold a full UK driving licence (Category B or BE) and NPORS, LANTRA, NPTC or equivalent certification/experience for the purpose of operating tractors & associated implements. You must have previous experience of tractor driving within a commercial environment. You must be able to work as part of a team and have good verbal and written communication skills.

    The working hours for this position are as follows:

    • Summer - 32 weeks of 40 hours per week (8 hours per day) from 07:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
    • Winter - 20 weeks of 27 hours per week (6.75 hours per day) from 08:00am to 15:15pm, 4 days per week between Monday to Friday.

    Please note that this positon will be appointed to from 01st October 2026.
