What will you be doing?

We are looking for full-time and part-time Support Workers to join our friendly and dedicated team at Rusthall Adult Short Breaks, a residential service for adults aged 16 and over with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Rusthall provides short breaks for up to five people at a time, giving them and their carers valuable time to rest and recharge. Every stay is different, so this role offers the opportunity to support a wide range of individuals and make a meaningful difference each day.

To succeed in this role, you will need a positive and compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.

In return, we offer a full induction, comprehensive training, regular supervision, and ongoing opportunities to develop your skills and gain further qualifications through our learning and development programmes.

Hours are worked on a rota basis and include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

As a Support Worker at Rusthall Adult Short Breaks, you will play an important role in helping people enjoy positive, safe, and fulfilling stays with us.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting people to enjoy their short break and take part in meaningful activities

Helping individuals work towards their personal goals and outcomes

Providing support with personal care, medication, and health-related needs

Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and person-centred environment

Working collaboratively with families, carers, and external professionals to provide high-quality support

Salary and enhancements

Additional financial benefits include:

Sleep-in allowance of £42.80 per night. Just one sleep-in shift per week could increase your annual earnings by around £2,000.

Additional benefits

  • Kent Rewards (Childcare Vouchers, Cycle2Work scheme, high‑street discounts)
  • 10% discount on Adult Education courses
  • 29 days annual leave (pro‑rata) plus Bank Holidays
  • Eligibility to apply for the Blue Light Card for further savings

Expectations and requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve this within two years
  • Completion of the Care Certificate if not already held
  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Ability to take personal and professional responsibility for your practice
