
HR Business Partner - Fixed term contract
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional, qualified at CIPD Level 5, looking to progress their career and join a friendly collaborative team. In this varied role, you'll help create a positive working environment by ensuring HR practices are fair, consistent and aligned with Council's values.
As part of a small team of HR Business Partners, you'll work closely with managers to support performance management, absence management, learning and development, and recruitment activity. You'll play a key role in coaching managers, resolving employee relations matters, and helping teams build engaged, high-performing workforces.
You'll also contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures, working collaboratively with senior managers, trade unions, and colleagues to deliver effective people solutions. If you're passionate about delivering a proactive, customer-focused HR service and making a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.

We are changing
North Herts Council (NHC) is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). If you are employed by NHC on 1 April 2028, it is expected that the majority of roles will transfer to the newly-created unitary councils on existing terms and conditions under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings – Protection of Employment) principles.
LGR is one of the biggest changes in local government we will face in a generation. It will reshape how we work and how services are organised and gives us a real opportunity to build something better.

Salary range
- £28,630 - £32,928 per year
