About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and professional individual to join our Events and Section 184 Team. as a Streetworks and Permitting Officer. In this role, you will help manage activities that impact the highway network across Lincolnshire, ensuring that both events and dropped crossing applications are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant legislation and County Council policies.

You will be responsible for assessing and coordinating applications for Section 184 vehicle crossings, providing advice and guidance to residents, developers, and contractors, and carrying out inspections where required. You will also support the management and coordination of a wide range of events on the highway, working with organisers, emergency services, district councils, and other stakeholders to minimise disruption while enabling events to take place successfully.


The area covers Boston, South Holland and North/South Kesteven.


The role requires you to provide timely and professional advice on highway matters, ensuring that the needs of all road users, residents, businesses, and event organisers are considered. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maintain safety, minimise network impacts, and support the effective use of the highway network.

Working in accordance with the Highways Act 1980, Traffic Management Act 2004, relevant guidance, and Lincolnshire County Council policies and procedures, you will contribute to the efficient management of the county's highway assets and activities. You will also assist in the interpretation and application of legislation, policies, procedures, and best practice, helping to ensure consistent service delivery and continuous improvement within the team.


About You

It is essential that you hold a NRSWA Supervisors qualification and HNC in an appropriate discipline OR have a demonstrable level of knowledge and skill suitable for the role.

You will be an excellent communicator who can build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, event organisers, contractors, elected members, developers, and partner organisations. You will be confident in managing competing priorities, making informed decisions, and providing high-quality customer service.

You will be able to demonstrate ability in data and performance management, and a strong experience in Street Works/Highways sector. Above all else you need to have a positive "can do" attitude and be passionate about ensuring the Lincolnshire Highways Network delivers for the residents and road users of the county.


You must have the ability to travel across the county in order to meet the needs of the service.


Hybrid working is a feature of this role. The successful applicant will be required to attend the office alongside the rest of the team one or two days a week. On occasions, event days may be required over weekends or after hours.
