Assistant Finance Partner

We are looking to recruit Assistant Finance Partner as part of a team providing a Financial Support Service to Wirral Schools.

About the Role:

In this role you will deliver a solution-focussed, innovative financial management function, that enables schools to manage their financial resources effectively. You'll be a proactive member of a customer-focussed finance team to support schools to manage their budgets and plan their finances in future years, through a service level agreement.

About the Candidate:

We are looking for a team-player who is able to take direction from the Finance Business Partner - Traded Services, whilst being able to manage their own workload. You will have a formal accountancy qualification (such as AAT), or equivalent financial knowledge gained through significant experience working as a finance specialist. Above all you will have good interpersonal skills to develop sustainable and successful partnership working with all levels of school staff.

Applications are welcome from people with experience from a range of backgrounds, not just local government. Demonstrable experience in some of the following areas are required:

  • Budget setting, budget monitoring and projections
  • Schools - statutory guidance such as Scheme for Financing Schools and Schools Financial Value Standards
  • Providing technical financial advice to schools
  • Maintaining Finance systems
  • Supporting financial decision-making

Applicants must be able to work in different locations throughout the borough. Part-time and term-time-only contracts will be considered for the right candidate.
