What will you be doing?

Kent’s Mainstream and Kinship Fostering Service is committed to strengthening our support offer to foster carers across the county, improving retention and developing carers’ skills and knowledge to ensure children experience stability, safety and positive outcomes.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fostering Reviewing Officer (Senior Practitioner) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to play a key role in ensuring our foster carers continue to provide safe, nurturing, and high-quality care for children and young people. In addition to leading the foster carer review process, the successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the wider fostering service through undertaking Kinship Viability Assessments, Standards of Care reports and Disruption Meetings.

About the Role

As a Fostering Reviewing Officer, you will provide robust oversight and quality assurance of fostering practice by coordinating and chairing foster carer annual reviews across Kent and outside the county when required. You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of Children’s and Fostering legislation, Standards, Guidance and Policy frameworks to ensure compliance in maintaining a strong focus on improving outcomes for children and young people. In addition you will need to have strong analytical skills, professional curiosity and the ability to balance support whilst challenging practice to inform recommendations so that we achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.

The post can offer flexible working arrangements with your main base being at Kroner House and flexibility to work from other Kent offices and home working. You should therefore enjoy working to a high standard both independently whilst working remotely and as part of an effective team.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English (or Welsh) sufficient for the effective performance of the role. The required standards are detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.
