About the role

Our Creative Learning & Wellbeing team at Cambridgeshire Music is seeking Instrumental and Vocal Tutors and Clinical Arts Therapists to support delivery within education and community settings with individuals and groups. The four posts are offered initially at 0.4 FTE, with potential for the role to develop further and expand over time. Successful candidates will deliver high-quality provision, supporting the musical and/or personal development particularly of children and young people. You will contribute to a diverse programme of creative learning activity, tailored to a range of ages, abilities, and settings.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jason Howard via jason.howard@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

What will you be doing?

As well as delivering high-quality learning or wellbeing provision within educational settings according to your Lead Specialism and its pedagogical or clinical focus, the role will include contributing to a wider programme of activity across the service. This includes supporting evening and weekend activities, working with groups of varying ages and abilities. You may also be involved in delivering workshops and courses during school holidays, as well as participating in projects and events that take place outside of traditional school settings. These activities are an important part of our offer, helping to broaden access, encourage progression, and engage children and young people in music-making beyond schools. The role offers variety and the opportunity to work across different contexts, supporting both individual development and collaborative experiences.

Further details can be found in the job description and person specification.

About you

You will have relevant qualifications, training, or demonstrable experience in your chosen specialism, with the ability to teach across a range of genres and styles and sizes of groups. You will be confident delivering engaging and inclusive sessions that meet the needs of children and young people with varying levels of ability and experience. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with pupils, families, school staff, and colleagues, and to inspire enthusiasm for music-making. A flexible and adaptable approach is essential, as you will be working across a variety of educational and community settings. You should be well organised, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and professional practice. As the role involves delivery in multiple locations, you will be able to travel independently across the county of Cambridgeshire.

About us

Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes.

Our four values are central to our culture, driving everything we do.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we firmly believe benefits our colleagues, the organisation and our communities. If you don’t meet every single requirement in the job role but think this could be you, please don’t be put off. We are committed to building a workplace that is compassionate and inclusive as well as diverse, so if you think you could be a good candidate for this role please consider applying and speak to the recruiting manager if you have any questions.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. We fully support providing reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process, as well as when you join us, and we encourage candidates to contact the Hiring Manager, whose details can be found in the advert, to discuss any adjustment needs. Through a Guaranteed Interview Scheme, we will offer an interview to all applicants who disclose a disability and meet the essential criteria for a job vacancy. On your application form you can indicate you are disabled. Some examples of reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process could include additional time to complete an assessment or printing a document on pastel coloured paper with larger font size and line spacing. We would value talking about what might be possible to enable you to join us and thrive, so if there is something that would help you to do your best during your journey with us, please get in touch.
