Job Description

Overview

London Borough of Harrow is seeking a School Organisation Manager to lead the development and delivery of school organisation strategies, ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties and responsibilities in relation to education provision. This is a highly visible role that works closely with Headteachers, Governing Bodies, Senior Officers and other key stakeholders across Harrow’s schools, representing the Local Authority on a range of strategic and operational matters.

The successful candidate will take the lead on school organisation planning and work collaboratively across Council departments to build strong partnerships that inform and support the schools’ capital programme. The role also involves liaising with neighbouring Local Authorities to coordinate and agree school term dates, overseeing their publication, and providing regular briefings and updates to the Head of Service. In addition, you will support communications and reporting for Members and Chief Officers, ensuring they are kept informed of key developments, decisions and statutory requirements affecting school organisation across the borough.


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of government policies and priorities in relation to school organisation and admissions.
  • Evidence of good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and the ability to be solution focused.
  • Ability to undertake visits to schools and other sites as and when required.
  • Ability to attend evening meetings.
  • Experience of liaising with schools, parents and officers and other stakeholder effectively to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
