About the Role
Working within our Development Team, you will help develop a modern, accurate and integrated approach to managing information about the Council’s growing portfolio of community assets.
You’ll work with mapping systems, operational databases and digital platforms to improve our Asset Register, support evidence-based decision-making and contribute to the development of future asset management systems and processes.
This is far more than a data management role—it’s an opportunity to help shape how a growing Town Council plans, manages and invests in its community assets for years to come.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, analysing information and improving systems.
You may be:
- An experienced Asset Data or GIS professional.
- A graduate in Geography, GIS, Environmental Management, Planning, Data Science or a related discipline.
- A Data Analyst or Information Management professional.
- Someone with experience of mapping systems, databases or asset management.
- An enthusiastic graduate looking to gain practical experience within local government.
Above all, you’ll be proactive, analytical, organised and excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of community asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve the Council’s Asset Register.
- Bring together information from multiple systems and data sources.
- Support GIS mapping and spatial data projects.
- Improve the quality, consistency and accessibility of asset information.
- Help develop future asset management processes and standards.
- Support strategic projects, including the Council’s Devolution Programme.
- Prepare reports, mapping and information to support decision-making.
- Help prepare asset information for future Microsoft 365, SharePoint and other digital platforms.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across a wide range of Council services.

Position: Asset Data Officer / Asset Data Intern (Devolution Programme)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term (6 months)
Location: Weston-super-Mare (office based)
Salary: Competitive and dependant upon appointment level (Officer or Intern) and experience
