About the role

The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) has a permanent, full-time vacancy for a qualified Social Worker.

MASH provides a safeguarding triage function and is committed to making safeguarding personal. This involves engaging with the referrer, the adult at risk, and or their advocate, to agree a way forward which follows the six key principles of s42 enquires under the Care Act.

MASH works closely with its partner agencies, in the spirit of the Care Act, to share information with the aim of providing the highest quality of response to adults at risk.

The team is co-located, with the police, at The Hex, Police Headquarters, and you will be expected to undertake advanced vetting for this position. The Adult Social Care forms one element of the MASH, which is a small, fast paced triage and duty team, we operate under the Hybrid working model, between The Hex and working from home arrangements.

If you would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Julie Rivett, Strategic Safeguarding Lead & Service Manager on 0748 450 9377 or Julie.Rivett@Cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Interviews are planned for the 24th August and will take place at New Shire Hall, Huntingdon.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This role will be required to work from a Police building and therefore this post will be subject to the outcome of a Police vetting check.

We are proud to serve the diverse the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we believe benefits our employees, the organisation and our communities.

What will you be doing?

MASH provides a Monday – Friday safeguarding triage function and as a MASH Social Worker, you will be responsible for triaging concerns, based on the level of risk as well as holding your own Care Act s42 enquires. The team has set assignments per working day, which is supported by the team’s Senior Social Workers.

You will need to provide accurate and factual responses, which is preventative, by signposting to relevant organisations or conduct (or instruct others to conduct) enquiries under section 42 of the Care Act.

You will need advanced communication skills as much of our work is over the telephone and emails, and knowledge of adult social care recording systems such as Mosaic, Microsoft and IT platforms will be essential.

Cambridgeshire County Council offers supporting training in this area, as well as team support through system champions.

About you

If you’re a confident and dynamic individual who enjoys making a difference in their local community, we want to hear from you.

You must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently

For a full list of the requirements of the role, please check out the Job Description and Person Specification.
