About the role:

There is an exciting opportunity to become a Public Health and Community Apprentice working with the Brentwood Public Health, leisure and communities' team.

The successful candidate will be study for a Public Health Level 3 qualification whilst gaining valuable work experience in the field.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to work with the Council’s Public Health team. The contract of employment will be for a minimum of 20 months, subject to completing an induction period.

The postholder will benefit from the combination of classroom and practical learning through hands-on experience by working to support Brentwood Council’s approach to public health. The work is driven through the action plans from the local health and wellbeing board and it’s sub-groups. This role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (including time for learning) with the occasional event at weekends, supporting Brentwood Borough Council’s Community Services Team in key community events such as the Christmas Lights Switch on.

The postholder’s day-to-day work will involve supporting various programmes of work including the Council’s workforce and delivering health and wellbeing projects for the benefit of Brentwood residents. The post-holder will gain experience in developing local partnership working and develop the knowledge and skills in addressing the wider determinants of health whilst working in the local community with engagement projects and outings in the Community Connect Vehicle.
