The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced project officer to join our Transformation Team. The Transformation Team are responsible for the oversight of a range of transformation projects within adult social services.

In this role, you will support the Transformation Project Manager to manage the delivery of a number of key adult social care transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed project updates and implementation plans/business cases ensuring compliance with NSC priorities and legislative requirements.
• Maintain key project documentation to support the successful delivery of transformation projects
• Provide evidence of project delivery within the appropriate timescales and escalate any issues as necessary.
• Establish & maintain appropriate links between colleagues and other professionals to encourage a clear understanding of each other’s priorities and ways of working.
• Communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, managers and businesses, both verbally and in writing, within information sharing protocols and record keeping policies.
• Set up sustainable systems to collect, collate and provide information for strategic planning for transformation objectives.

Work Style

At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Mobile/Field Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

• 0-1 day in the office
• Includes field workers who primarily work remotely.
• Comes into the office for meetings or focused work. Virtual connections with the team are essential, with portable technology supporting work on the go.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about driving forward service transformation to support the Council to respond effectively and sustainably to rising demand and cost pressures, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

• Vocational qualification or experience to level 5 or above, relevant to one or more of the service areas, e.g. Adult Social Services, community development, or project management
• Extensive practical experience of working within Local Government delivering projects, service development and/or partnership working, giving rise to a sound understanding of the standards, legal responsibilities, work practices and processes relevant to the role.
• Proven ability to use project management tools and an understanding of project lifecycles, with experience collating and managing documentation to support successful delivery of projects.
• Ability to engage with all stakeholders to achieve council objectives.
• Ability to prepare & present information clearly and confidently
• Ability to manage/organise own work to meet agreed deadlines
• Understanding and recognition of professional boundaries

Desirable Criteria:

• Awareness of Adult Social Services
• Knowledge and understanding of legislation, research methods and practices for service areas
• Use research and project methods to analyse designated areas of work and make decision to improve them
