
Apprentice Electrician
Mansfield District Council has an exciting opportunity for someone to join their trade repairs team based at Mansfield Woodhouse to gain first-hand experience of day-to-day maintenance tasks whilst undertaking an Electrical Apprenticeship.
You will gain skills across varying aspect of carpentry/joinery, plumbing, plastering whilst you are working day to day towards your goal of becoming an electrician; as these skill sets go hand in hand with the daily workload of a social landlord repairs person.
You will learn and undertake key aspects of ensuring work is carried out to be compliant with the current wiring regulations and best practice guides for electrical works, health and safety requirements and meets building safety regulations and legislation. You will get to know and understand the key principles of electrical installation, maintenance and inspection / testing / certification to varying building types. You will gain knowledge of their construction, along with the range of building services that support a buildings operation, how to ensure the best use of materials and installation methods to ensure the minimisation of environmental impacts, how to improve a buildings performance and to ensure sustainability and the reduction of disposable materials and improved recycling.
You will work and train alongside operational staff that are fully trained and capable of enhancing your skill sets to make you the best you can be. In addition to this you will learn many new aspects that will help you in your everyday life, ICT skills, communication skills, customer service and team working skills.
This post has a working day finishing at 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 1pm finish on a Friday, giving you a good work life balance.
The Apprenticeship will be undertaken at West Notts College, commencing in September / October 2026 (dates to be formalised shortly).
The interview process will be in two parts - round one shortlisted candidates will need to attend the Council Offices (Civic Centre) to undertake an aptitude test and colour-blindness test with the college. These sessions will be held on Monday 10th August from 9-4pm and Friday 14th August from 12-3pm at the Civic Centre. Only candidates who pass both elements will be offered a formal interview on the 25th or 26th August. Closing date: 2 August 2026 Interview date: 25/26 August 2026Salary range
