About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Administration Manager, you will play a key role in processing the Council’s financial transactions and supporting the day-to-day operation of the finance function and HR administration support.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

Essential

• Previous experience working within an accounts or finance environment
• Experience handling financial information accurately
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Administration role experience
• AAT Level 2 qualification or working towards it

Desirable

• Experience of local government or public sector finance

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining the purchase ledger and processing invoices
• Processing income and banking transactions
• Administering petty cash and reconciliations
• Raising sales invoices and issuing customer statements
• Supporting credit control procedures
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
• Responding to finance-related telephone and email enquiries
• Supporting the wider finance team to meet deadlines and service requirements
• To provide HR administration support to the Director of Finance & Resources as required
