About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with initiative, drive and a passion for good governance and scrutiny to lead our Democratic Services team. You will lead the team in supporting the democratic processes, civic and mayoral functions and the governance of the Council; ensuring that decisions are taken effectively and lawfully. This will involve co-ordinating the work of the team to ensure the Council’s Committees, meetings and Members receive high quality support. You will also be leading on civic support for the Mayoralty, working with the Democratic and Electoral Services Manager on Civic Events.
Key to the role will be working directly with Councillors and Senior Officers, giving advice, and responding to requests whilst providing direct support to the committees you will be responsible for.&nbsp; In particular, we are looking for someone with Overview and Scrutiny experience who can advise, support and develop the scrutiny function working with the team member who supports the committee.&nbsp; This is an opportunity to make your mark in a short period of time and embed good scrutiny practice into the team.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week, on a fixed term contract for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave. You will also regularly be required to attend evening meetings.

We are looking for an experienced Social Work Practitioner to work in The Redbridge Home Treatment Team, who will provide specialist social work input to both HTT and inpatient caseloads ensuring the smooth discharge of patients through&nbsp;acute services and avoiding unnecessary delays. &nbsp;
Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in a demanding environment. You will be required to have an understanding of both acute in-patient and community-based mental health work, and the needs of mental health service users from a diverse range of backgrounds. You will need to be an excellent communicator, creative and capable of thinking on your feet.
You will be offered a full training package before starting in post and access to ongoing training, reflective practice and supervision.
The Home Treatment Team service within NELFT is a 24-hour crisis facility and as such staff are expected to work a shift pattern. However, acknowledging the specialist nature of this position you will have the option of a flexible work pattern.
In addition you should:

<li>be a qualified social worker with a relevant qualification (DipSW or Degree) and have experience of working in mental health.</li>
<li>have experience of working with service users experiencing severe mental health difficulties and with complex needs.</li>

<li>be an Approved Mental Health Practitioner or be willing to train; AMHP allowance £3000 per annum.</li>
<li>possess excellent assessment skills; be able to determine appropriate evidence-based interventions and proposed outcomes of intervention for Service Users and their Carers.</li>
<li>have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and practice issues. Have experience of completing Care Act Assessments and Human Rights Assessments.</li>

Social Worker

Working as a member of the parking services team, the post holder will be a front-line operative for the council assisting members of the public with information, offering advice and guidance on parking restrictions. Ensuring correct use of both off-street and on-street parking spaces, in accordance with the relevant Parking Orders and Traffic Management Act 2004. Civil Enforcement Officers (CEO) will also be required to issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parking in contravention of the parking regulations, which may incur some negative verbal interaction. Written reports will need to be completed by the post holder recording details of any incidents. On a daily basis CEO's will walk their allocated route, which could be up to 10/12 miles, assessing road signage and road lining for compliance purposes; informing their supervisor of any issues or concerns. CEO's must ensure all incidents are brought to the attention of the Supervisor immediately – providing written statements and reports. They may also need to attend court or adjudication panels when required, as well as to submit evidence when called upon. Medway Council's equipment procedures must be adhered to – ensuring that all equipment is given due care and protection, daily start of shift checks should be carried out for faults and damaged equipment to be immediately reported to the Supervisor. As a Benefits Officer, you’ll be responsible for assessing new claims, changes in circumstances, and risk-based reviews. You'll give detailed advice to customers, help them access additional support, and contribute to the smooth, fair delivery of welfare benefits across both districts.

What You’ll Be Doing

<li>Assessing all types of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction applications, including complex and high-value cases</li>
<li>Providing high-quality advice and guidance to customers in person, by phone, and in writing</li>
<li>Ensuring accuracy in every claim by staying up to date with legislation, circulars, and case law</li>
<li>Identifying additional benefit entitlements and signposting customers to further support</li>

The Digital Communications and Engagement Officer will be responsible for managing and developing Medway Council’s social media channels and digital platforms, this includes editorial oversight of other service managed social media and digital channels.The Digital Communications and Engagement Officer will provide strategic input by planning and implementing digital communications and engagement strategies, using a variety of methods and channels to reach a wide range of audiences, to promote the council’s vision and priorities as well as support the department’s proactive and reactive communications.
