Our service is at the heart of responsible waste disposal and recycling, operating 14 household waste recycling centres and driving innovative solutions for waste treatment and recovery.We’re looking for a dynamic Team Leader to inspire and guide our dedicated team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to contribute to sustainability, efficiency, and community leadership, this is your chance to make an impact where it truly matters.Main Responsibilities In this role you'll:<ul><li>Run the Household Waste Recycling Centre safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental permits.</li><li>Provide clear, hands‑on leadership on site, setting high standards for customer service, safety and cleanliness</li><li>Supervise site staff, including completing inductions, managing absences, allocating daily tasks.</li><li>Encourage and enforce high recycling rates.</li><li>Open and close the HWRC in line with agreed opening hours, completing all required safety and site checks.</li><li>Monitor waste and recycling container levels and site stock, working with haulage contractors to ensure the site always has enough capacity.</li><li>Complete and maintain accurate records and paperwork, including Duty of Care documentation, waste transfer notes, consignment records.</li><li>Safely operate and oversee mobile plant and carrying out daily checks and reporting any faults or defects.</li><li>Enforce site rules, traffic management arrangements, and charging or permit policies to keep the site safe and well organised.</li><li>Supervise site users, contractors, and visitors to ensure health, safety, and environmental rules are followed at all times.</li><li>Record and report accidents, near misses, unsafe behaviour, or rule breaches in line with Council procedures.</li><li>Maintain high standards of housekeeping, keeping the site, buildings, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and free from litter.</li><li>Keep daily site logs and visitor records as required for legal and operational purposes.</li><li>Work weekends and bank holidays and travel to other HWRC sites across Staffordshire when needed.</li></ul>The Ideal Candidate You'll need:<ul><li>Ability to safely operate site equipment and carry out basic daily checks.</li><li>Confident team leader, able to supervise and motivate staff.</li><li>Good communication skills and a helpful, customer‑focused approach.</li><li>Ability to apply site rules and health &amp; safety procedures fairly and professionally.</li><li>Well organised, able to manage a busy workload and adapt to change.</li><li>Able to complete simple paperwork and use electronic systems accurately.</li><li>Positive, reliable, and professional with a strong focus on safety and the environment.</li><li>Able to work weekends and bank holidays.</li><li>Willing to travel between HWRC sites across Staffordshire.</li><li>Physically able to work outdoors in an operational environment.</li></ul>Interview dates will be week commencing 2nd February.Don’t feel you meet all the requirements? About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our Street Cleansing Services team. As a Street Cleansing Operative, you will help maintain clean and safe public spaces across the Borough of Rugby by performing a range of cleansing duties in accordance with Council specifications.
Key Responsibilities

<ul>
<li>Cleanse designated areas of the Borough as directed by the Street Cleansing Contract Officer.</li>
<li>Carry out tasks such as litter picking, fly-tip removal, emptying and maintaining litter bins, street sweeping, and collection of bulky or clinical waste.</li>
<li>Ensure all cleansing is performed to the standards set out in Council service specifications.</li>
<li>Communicate politely and professionally with members of the public.</li>
<li>Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and the Council’s Safety Policies.</li>
<li>Attend required training, including those held outside normal working hours or at external venues.</li>
<li>Comply with site safety protocols at landfill, waste transfer, and recycling facilities.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a high standard of service.</li>
<li>Perform daily PPE inspections and report any issues to the line manager.</li>
<li>Complete vehicle check sheets and report defects using digital systems (e.g. Web Aspex).</li>
<li>Maintain responsibility for cleansing equipment and ensure legal and safety documentation is completed accurately and on time.</li>
</ul>
