You’ll follow RoSPA and Southwark Council procedures to stop traffic safely, give clear instructions, and keep an eye on site conditions, reporting any incidents or defective street furniture promptly. You’ll use the provided PPE correctly, conduct dynamic risk assessments, and work closely with the School and the School Crossing Patrol Manager to keep everyone safe.Training (including safeguarding and conflict management) is provided.Hours: 10 per week during term time, typically 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon (windows usually between 07:45–09:30 and 14:45–16:30). The Job Role
As Civic Chauffeur, you will be responsible for transporting the Chairman and Civic party to official engagements, ensuring timely arrivals through effective route planning and providing courteous support throughout events. You will also assist with the care and security of the Chains of Office, maintain the Civic vehicle to a high standard, and support the Civic Officer in hosting events.
The role also includes administrative tasks, photography for Civic records, and occasionally deputising for the Civic Officer. This is a key role in representing the Council at public functions and supporting the smooth delivery of Civic events.
About You
This role involves long and unsociable hours, and the workload can fluctuate significantly due to the nature of Civic engagements. The successful candidate must therefore be highly flexible, with the ability to work variable shifts — including evenings and weekends — sometimes at short notice.
You must hold a full, clean driving licence and be confident in planning routes and driving to a high standard. While previous chauffeuring experience is desirable, full training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is positive, hardworking, and reliable, with a professional and courteous manner. You should be comfortable working independently, take pride in your appearance and conduct, and be willing to support the wider Democratic Services team when needed.

About The Job
Salary Range: £12.65 - £12.85 per hour.
Work Location: Your base location is Drayton Depot (near Chichester) however, you will be assigned to a specific site location. You wont be required to visit the base location every working day.

What is term time only working? A term time only contract is for our staff who are employed to work only during periods when schools are open. Your pay is calculated on an annual basis and then you are paid over twelve equal monthly instalments.
What you will be doing:
We are currently seeking a School Crossing Patrol, to provide a valuable and reliable service to children and other pedestrians at a designated Crossing Site by assisting them to cross the road safely on their way to and from school.
You will be required to stand for extended periods, holding the 'lollipop' pole in all weather conditions, to ensure the safe passage of children and adults to their intended destination. This will entail stopping cars.
Experience and Skills
Key Skills:

<li>Ability to understand and carry out the procedures for safely stopping traffic.</li>
<li>Good oral communication skills to be able to deal effectively with both children and colleagues, and other adults where necessary.</li>
<li>Good perception and knowledge of car stopping times, in particular the effect that adverse weather conditions have on these.</li>
<li>Ability to remain calm when put under pressure by drivers or pedestrians.</li>
<li>A basic level of literacy and numeracy sufficient to follow detailed written instructions and procedures and record necessary information during the course of the duty.</li>
<li>To be familiar with the relevant sections of the Highway Code and its applications.</li>

What is the job role? The job involves providing transportation for some of our most vulnerable people across Coventry. This can involve manually handling large wheelchairs and loading them on and off the minibuses. You will be dealing with a range of challenging behaviours potentially daily. Continuity is a vital part of the service we provide and we endeavour to keep the same driver and passenger assistant on the vehicle. &nbsp;In summary, the role involves the following tasks:<ul>
<li>Undertake all driving duties in allocated vehicles as instructed by the PTS office team.</li>
<li>Pick up service users and transport them to their point of destination using the vehicle in a safe, secure and caring manner.</li>
<li>Take all reasonable steps to prevent service users from causing harm to themselves and/or others.</li>
<li>Complete all paperwork as requested.</li>
<li>Be punctual, adaptable and reliable.</li>
</ul>These roles are 20 hours a week working 4 hours a day which includes a split shift of 2 hours in the morning and afternoon. &nbsp;These roles are term-time only. &nbsp;If you cannot adhere to these shifts please do not apply.All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK.
