EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for a motivated and practical person to join us as a Multi-Trade Maintenance Operative Apprentice, working across our housing and corporate properties, all while completing your Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship at London South East Colleges (Holly Hill Campus).
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and learning multiple trade skills. You’ll be based at our Sevenoaks offices, working with experienced colleagues who’ll support and mentor you every step of the way.
What you’ll be doing:
<ul>
<li>Supporting a wide range of maintenance, repair and minor works activities across our buildings and housing stock</li>
<li>Assisting with statutory compliance checks to keep buildings safe and operational</li>
<li>Ordering and handling materials appropriately for each job</li>
<li>Preparing risk assessments and learning how to write work estimates</li>
<li>Participating in PAT testing and learning how to complete and log safety inspections</li>
<li>Attending college one day a week (training days are 1 day per week, term time only)</li>
</ul>
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
<ul>
<li>A full UK driving licence</li>
<li>Maths and English or equivalent qualifications</li>
<li>A hands-on, can-do attitude and willingness to learn</li>
<li>Good problem-solving skills and an adaptable approach</li>
<li>Ability to work well in a team and take initiative when needed</li>
</ul>

About the Role
Do you love working in the outdoors? Then this is the job is for you. We are now recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our Greenspaces team.
Working within a small team carrying out routine ground maintenance operations in our parks and open spaces, including the maintenance of flower beds, shrubs, trees, and lawns through regular planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and weeding. You will be required to use a ride on mowers, strimmer’s and hedge cutters and have a good understanding of grounds maintenance operations.
Some of the duties include:
<ul>
<li>Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and lawns through regular planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and weeding.</li>
<li>Assist with landscaping projects, planting schemes, and biodiversity initiatives.</li>
<li>Operate a range of horticultural machinery and tools.</li>
<li>Carry out routine inspections of park features, reporting any damage or safety concerns.</li>
<li>Support in the delivery of the council’s biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability objectives.</li>
</ul>
About the Person
<ul>
<li>Experience in horticulture, grounds maintenance, or similar roles.</li>
<li>Qualification in the use of grounds maintenance machinery.</li>
<li>Relevant horticultural qualification.</li>
<li>Experience using ride on machinery.</li>
<li>Have good knowledge of plant care, turf management, and seasonal gardening practices.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li>
<li>Have a strong awareness of health and safety and safe working practices.</li>
<li>Be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.</li>
<li>Full UK driving licence.</li>
