<li>Provide an advocacy service to children and families in receipt of children’s services using a range of tools to understand their views.</li>

Wokingham Children’s Services are looking to recruit an Experienced or Senior Social Worker in the Referral &amp; Assessment Team on a Permanent Basis.
The Referral and Assessment Team is a fast-paced team that works closely with the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, Helping Early Service and the Children’s Safeguarding Social Work teams within Children’s services.&nbsp; 
As a Social Worker in the Referral &amp; Assessment Team you will speak to children and their families and other involved professionals to complete assessments which will identify relevant support needed in a timely manner.
The goal of the Referral &amp; Assessment team is to work in partnership with children and the important people in their lives to understand more about the support families may need to safely and effectively parent. Our aim is to identify where this support can be obtained, be that through further social work support alongside a family’s naturally connected networks or other community-based services.
Your work will include assessments, and child protection enquiries. It may also include court proceedings work including applications in care proceedings and section 7 reports.&nbsp;
The Social Worker role 
You will work as part of a dynamic and fast paced team and be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and exhibit resilience. The right candidate will work effectively with colleagues alongside representatives from partner agencies, to ensure the child’s voice is evident throughout the work completed.
You will need to have great inter-personal skills, excellent recording skills, and a sound knowledge of children’s legislation and thresholds.
The Referral &amp; Assessment Team are currently working in a hybrid capacity, with our Social Workers combining a regular routine of working in the office, working from home, and working within the community.&nbsp;

Key responsibilities:

<li>To work in accordance with the Care Act 2014 to assess, review or reassess complex needs of customers and their carers, offering advice and guidance and access to support services in line with their eligible needs, with an emphasis on health, safety, and wellbeing for vulnerable individuals and those that care for them.</li>
<li>To adopt and promote a strengths-based approach to the role and maintain a professional and respectful working relationship with individual customers and carers.</li>

Salary: In addition to the salary quoted, this role attracts a one-off Welcome Payment of £7,000 and a Retention Payment of 4% of Annual Salary after 2 years, subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Welcome Payment T&amp;Cs for details.&nbsp;
<h3>About you…</h3>
You must have a current Social Work England registration and at least three years post qualifying experience within children’s social care that includes child protection, public law outline and care proceedings.
To succeed in this role, you will have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, policies and thresholds. Strong experience of multi-agency working, working in partnership and co-producing needs led safety plans for children and young people. You will have excellent recording skills, and the ability to produce quality assessments, reports and statements for court.
You will role model and champion good social work practice, are able to evidence relevant continued professional development, will support others in sharing your knowledge and experience and contribute to our inclusive culture.

<h3>Key responsibilities…</h3>
<ul>
<li>To carry out needs led child focused assessments which include outcome focused plans.</li>
<li>To work alongside other professionals and partner agencies in assessing children in need and undertaking child protection enquiries.</li>
<li>To be the allocated Social Worker for duty caseload of single assessments under S17 and S47 investigations, with some short-term work.</li>
<li>To take part in the duty system responding to child protection concerns.</li>
<li>To develop and maintain accurate case records and comply with the department's policies, procedures and guidelines including data protection and GDPR.</li>
<li>To participate in regular reflective supervision and be able to set clear goals and intervention strategies.</li>
