 The role will specifically involve responding to new notifications when a private fostering arrangement is made for a child by assessing the needs of the child and suitability of a private foster carer and their home environment. You will have your own caseload of children subject of private fostering regulations, and any other intervention they need. You will also undertake the carer assessments and private fostering visits on children allocated to other social workers if their arrangements become private fostering and therefore the role will require good cooperation with the child's Social Worker to ensure that the placement is suitable for their needs and considers their wishes and feelings. These arrangements will need to be visited and reviewed as per statutory guidance to ensure that they continue to be suitable and safe arrangements for the child.
In this role, you will be actively involved in improving and promoting our private fostering service by ensuring that our responsibilities to children and their private foster carers are fulfilled in a timely way. You will be offering consultation and support to Social Workers across Children's Social Care to improve their identification of private fostering and raise awareness. There will be opportunities to develop and support training and be part of awareness sessions with the public/wider professional network.
This is real opportunity to develop practice, and we are seeking someone dynamic and passionate who wishes to complete good quality work with children and their private foster carers as well as striving to make this area of practice well promoted and effective for the children in these situations. It will be important that you are confident in your ability to work autonomously but you will also be well supported in undertaking this task and provided with regular supervision. Family Safeguarding is a whole family strengths-based approach to safeguarding children who may be in need of support or at risk of harm. We work with families with children aged 0-18years to help them identify and make real changes, so that they can stay together, and children can remain safely at home. An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our SEND Statutory Team.&nbsp; The post is responsible for ensuring that the SEND Statutory team achieve all of their statutory duties in line with legislation, but also to ensure that the service is providing a high level of support to our families and school leaders.&nbsp;
The post is based at County Hall in Newport but will require the successful candidate to be able to travel across the island to visit schools and settings as well as hold meetings with parents as required.

The Fostering and Adoption Team are looking to recruit a Social Worker to the Adoption Hub.
This role will include an emphasis on placing the safety and welfare of children at the very centre of everything we do.
Based within the Adoption Hub of the Fostering and Adoption Team, you would write Child Permanence Reports, match children to their adoptive family and support the child’s transition into their adoptive home. You would be responsible for supporting birth relatives through the adoption process too. You would have the opportunity to undertake Step-Parent Adoption assessments and Special Guardianship assessments within this role as well. So we are looking for a Social Worker who is excellent at working directly with young children and adults alike. The successful applicant will have well developed empathy skills, a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and be keen to engage in reflective supervision.
As part of the Fostering and Adoption Team you would work closely with colleagues in the Fostering Hubs, Support and Protection Teams, and Adopt South. As such, we are looking for candidates who are energetic and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our experienced and hardworking team.

We are excited to offer Approved Mental Health Professionals the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our passionate and motivated AMHP Team.
We are looking for Approved Mental Health Professionals who are approved by a Local Authority, or willing to work to be approved by the Isle of Wight Council, to cover the function of undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments while also holding a complex mental health caseload as part of their substantive role within the Mental Health Team. AMHPs hold a combination of Section 117, Ministry of Justice, CTO, Section 29 and Care Act work/allocations.
The Isle of Wight AMHP Team works within a 24-hour on-call rota, including evening and weekend hours and bank holidays. Post-holders will also be expected to cover the Mental Health duty function when required for general enquiries about clients already known to our service for any new referrals to Adult Social Care to provide a point of contact for clients, families, and providers.
The Mental Health team is a dynamic, experienced, and dedicated group of social care staff who are passionate about ensuring that individuals who experience mental ill health on the Isle of Wight are given the appropriate opportunities to promote independence and equality of access to services.
