What will you be doing?

At Kent County Council, Occupational Therapy is viewed as a critical service in enabling people to live their lives in the way that most matters to them. Our community Occupational Therapy Teams are co-located with our in-house enablement services and work alongside our Community Social Work; Adult Social Care Connect and Short-term pathway teams. This gives us the opportunity to work in a co-ordinated, preventative, and creative way to maximise people’s independence.

We have exciting opportunities to join the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Adult Community Occupational Therapy Team and Sevenoaks Adult Community Occupational Therapy Teams and to deliver strengths based and person-centred Occupational Therapy Interventions. As an Occupational Therapy Assessment Officer, you will work with the person within their home, using functional assessments to identify the outcomes that most matter to them. You will find creative solutions to enhance independence in everyday activities, utilising equipment, adaptations, and techniques. The role will involve working in partnership with a variety of agencies including Health and Housing to ensure that people are supported in the most effective way to meet their needs and to improve their lives.

Occasionally you will be expected to work outside normal office hours to optimise outcomes for service users and provide a responsive, seamless, multi-disciplinary approach.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

Kent County Council has excellent opportunities for training and development; you will receive a comprehensive induction and the support and training you need to feel confident and effective in your role. You will work within the Occupational Therapy Team and be supervised by an Occupational Therapist. We are hybrid working between the office base, community, and home; therefore, a flexible working approach is required. Provision of technology and equipment to work from all locations will be provided.

Our offer:

  • Starting salary of £29,167
  • Full induction and comprehensive professional learning and development programme
  • Starting annual leave allowance of 29 increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service.
  • A minimum of 5 days’ training each year
  • Excellent Government pension scheme
