About UsBreakwater offers short to medium term residential care for children aged 12-17 on admission. You will be working with children who present a range of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties due to family breakdown and early childhood trauma. Children who are referred to Breakwater are often victims of exploitation, involved in crime, and may have experienced a breakdown in education provision. They may be at risk of becoming homeless and have limited support around them. Alongside the main part of the home, Breakwater also offers two smaller self-contained flats to support children who are looking to move into semi-independent living. We recognise that the transition to adulthood can be challenging, and that we need to promote emotional and social development alongside practical skills to achieve readiness for the future. The two flats are fully equipped for children to meet all their independence needs, with the additional support of staff being on hand when needed. While living in these flats, the children complete a six-month programme, which prepares them for independent living. This is a full time role based at St Mary's Community Health Campus.Your new roleThe role focuses on promoting independence through rehabilitation, supporting service users from hospital discharge to ongoing care. It involves assessing progress, updating care plans with the MDT, and coordinating further support via Adult Social Care. Daily tasks include assisting with mobility, personal care, and community access, while ensuring safe practices and accurate documentation. The position also includes supervising Rehabilitation Assistants, providing senior cover when needed, and working both independently and collaboratively to maintain high standards of care.Who is the person summary:You must have experience of working with adults in a rehabilitation setting, as well as providing personal care. You should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the impact that disability can have on individuals' independence. You must be flexible and be able to maintain confidentiality, as well as excellent communication skills. Varied hours per week
The Mental Health team would like to offer Approved Mental Health Professionals the opportunity to support the Isle of Wight AMHP Service through our casual bank list. We are looking for Approved Mental Health Professionals who are approved by a Local Authority, or willing to work to be approved by the Isle of Wight Council, to cover the function of executing Mental Health Act Assessments in a variety of settings.
This post is zero-hours and would suit AMHPs who work for another Authority but would like some experience working on an island, or for AMHPs that have not practiced for a while but would be willing to undertake the training to become approved by the Isle of Wight Council.
The ethos of the post is to cover AMHP shifts in case of vacancies or sickness as part of the 24-hour on-call rota, including evening and weekend hours and bank holidays.
We will provide you with an induction to the systems used and resources of the island before you will be expected to work on your own, in addition to support from the AMHP manager to discuss any areas of practice concerns.
Post incentives:

<li>Casual contract via recruitment process.</li>
<li>Standby fee of £85.00 plus expenses for every shift, regardless of whether any callout occurs.</li>
<li>Any work completed when called out is paid at the rate of £22.93 per hour (Grade 11c).</li>
<li>Mainland AMHPs may be eligible to receive travel expenses to the Island.</li>
</ul>
