There is much to be positive about: Redbridge’s schools perform well. But there are some fundamental areas where we need to improve: such as SEND provision and schools’ financial resilience in the context of changing demographics.
Our most recent Area SEND inspection has highlighted where we need to be better. This has supported shared clarity on priorities and ensured organisational attention and support to bring about the changes that are required. You’ll work in partnership with school leaders and partner organisations to develop more robust and accountable systems around SEND and Inclusion, ensuring a more informed perspective supports evidence-based decision-making that is data led. You’ll oversee work with schools to develop their expertise and capacity in SEND provision, ensuring a more consistent experience for children and young people, and when necessary, challenging performance. It’s important that you have a practical understanding of the complexities of partnership working and clear ideas on how to ensure that the needs of young people and their families are at the centre of system design.
As you’d expect, such a role comes with high levels of attention and scrutiny. So, it’s essential that you understand the political dynamics of leading on such a high-profile area of work. Success in this role will rely on your ability to create consensus and momentum across school leadership and governance. You’ll be able to articulate a distinct vision for the change that is needed and clarity on the practical steps that need to happen to get us where we want to be.
We expect that you will already have a proven track record of leading school improvement and SEND provision across a number of schools, either in another local authority or in a multi academy trust. You should be well-informed on the current and emerging issues for the sector and have a detailed appreciation of the challenges that each school faces, individually and as part of the wider system.

Senior Environmental Health Officer

We are looking for a talented in-house Junior Graphic Designer to join our busy and expanding Communications and Marketing Team.It’s a very exciting and varied role with lots of key areas to work on from theatres, events and festivals to waste and recycling, public health and much more. The successful candidate will need to be a good ‘all-rounder’, able to create professional and engaging graphics to support the huge variety of services offered by the council whilst maintaining and enhancing the council’s brand. Role PurposeTower Hamlets is a culturally diverse borough in which an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Green Team Operative As a Green Team operative for the Boroughs Green Team you will take a lead role on the horticultural maintenance of Parks and Open Spaces throughout Tower Hamlets You will be responsible for a range of duties including Grass cutting flower bed maintenance and bowling green maintenance The Council is committed to improving the quality of its green spaces and the Green Team Operative will have a key role in supporting this aim.Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities for the role of Green Team operative include:<ul> <li>Carry out a range of horticultural maintenance activities, in accordance with best horticultural practices, so that designated sites are prepared and maintained to a high standard of horticulture and overall appearance</li> <li>Support the implementation of improvements to designated sites, and the associated preparation for local and national award schemes.</li> <li>Undertake basic maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery, identifying and reporting defects.</li> <li>Deal with the public in a courteous and efficient manner, answering questions relating to the parks, noting and reporting any complaints to the Operations Leader.</li> <li>Participate in the delivery of horticultural- and ecological-based community events and activities such as tree planting, bulb planting and clean-up days.</li> <li>The Council has a strong commitment to achieving equality and opportunity in both services to the community and in the employment of people, and expects all employees to understand and promote its policies in their own work, including undertaking any training where necessary.</li></ul>RequirementsKey requirements for the role of Green Team operative include Knowledge of issues relating to parks and open spaces. Knowledge of First Aid necessary to protect public safety and the infrastructure of the park.
