The Post
As an Area Tenancy Manager (Housing Officer), you’ll manage end-to-end tenancies for a patch of social tenants or licensees. You will provide varied support to Brent residents to help them live safely and comfortably in their homes, acting as the face of the landlord for your patch.
You'll have the opportunity to develop detailed knowledge across various areas of tenancy management, including voids, lettings, income and arrears, anti-social behaviour (ASB), and providing support based on an individual person’s needs. This role is an excellent career opportunity to develop varied skills, experience and knowledge across the social housing sector.
With a consistent and smaller patch of properties, you’ll improve the quality and perception of the Housing Management Service. You’ll work with services across the Council to ensure vulnerable tenants have access to services they need, and Brent’s estates and homes are good quality, safe, and secure.
You will also uphold the guidelines set out by the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023, demonstrating a commitment to improving standards and ensuring the safety and quality of our social housing in compliance with this critical legislation.

You will lead on defending and bringing claims s under housing, landlord and tenant, contract, tort, personal injury, judicial review, statutory review, homelessness, highways and local government law.
Senior Housing Lawyer (Disrepair)
You will lead on defending claims &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;brought under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Environmental Health Act 1990, Defective Premises Act 1972, together with contractual claims from tenants and leaseholders including breach applications;
Both posts require the successful candidate to have a thorough up to date knowledge of housing and local government law.&nbsp; You will be experienced in representation in court proceedings and instructing counsel and have a good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. You will also have substantial experience in drafting legal documents and&nbsp;legal correspondence and giving specialist legal advice.&nbsp;

About the team
The Information Governance &amp; Assurance (IG&amp;A) team supports the GLA in managing its data, ensuring its integrity and &nbsp;security is paramount, supports the Authority in its compliance with legislation, to include Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), records management, information security and data protection law. The team also provides assurance to the business that the information it holds is securely processed.
There is the need to improve Knowledge and Information management strategy within the GLA – to effectively and efficiently improve where and how we store information that is readily accessible and central to policy teams and projects. This will ensure that project delivery and management decisions run smoothly, with information stored in a structured manner and aligned to retention period.&nbsp;&nbsp;
About the role&nbsp;
The team is looking to recruit a dedicated and skilled knowledge and information expert who will play a key role in contributing to the development and implementation of the GLA’s knowledge management strategy, which includes leading on developing a central records repository, reviewing policies, ensuring these are applied across the business and to the central repository. The individual must be capable of hitting the ground running, understand the GLA ways of working, working closely with the information governance manager/DPO and be willing to deputise for them.
What your day will look like
The GLA plans to implement and have in place an electronic document and records management system. This system will ensure information related to the main policy areas such as housing, environment, and programme delivery teams such as Grants, policy teams, Decisions, HR, is stored in a structured filing format that’s centrally accessible to the rest of the business. This post will lead on this exciting project working closely together with the IG&amp;A Manager, IG&amp;A team and other relevant units.
Represent the team and actively participate in the Knowledge and Assurance Working Group (KIAWG) meeting, and be the group’s secretariat.
Oversee and advise on the corporate information asset register, leading on the bi-annual review of the register and advising information asset owners, administrators.
Provide ongoing advice to the IG Officers with access to information requests, to include advising on complex requests, DSAR, internal review and ICO Complaints.
Provide robust training to staff including using available tools for awareness raising and highlighting our responsibilities under various information governance related legislation; contribute to the development of training slides with current IG trend, issues
Provide advice and support to policy and project leads, sometimes carrying out data protection impact assessments where personal data is processed – highlighting areas for potential high privacy risk and advising on appropriate mitigation, ensure data sharing agreements are in place where necessary.&nbsp;
Providing advice, guidance document and policy around information management and knowledge-based process.&nbsp;
Skills, knowledge and experience&nbsp;
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
An understanding of public sector information governance and assurance issues. The postholder will support the IG manager/Data Protection Officer (DPO) in providing assurance to the business with compliance for the relevant information governance legislation.
A strong background experience in information management, or a related field. With certification in knowledge management, data protection or information governance, e.g., BCS, CIPP/E, CIPM, PC.dp, PC.foi, PC.rm; Strong understanding of data protection and information security regulations. Basic understanding of cyber security trends and the assurance for risks to the business.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work together and as part of a team as well as independently with some line management experience. A commitment to being available in the office 2-3 days a week.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge management tools. Skills in understanding, interpreting and analysing detailed information. Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to non-technical people.&nbsp;

Job Title: Environmental Health Apprentice
Location of work: Town Hall /Hybrid working (Homeworking)
Salary: £23,652.12 per annum
Basis: 4-year Fixed term contract (until completion of degree programme). Full time (36 hours per week). Working hours will vary dependent on University teaching programme but will be full time when not required to be at University i.e. non-taught days and academic holidays.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to study for a degree while earning a salary and gaining practical skills by working as a member of the Environmental Health Team. You will study with the University of Middlesex on their Environmental Health (Apprenticeship) BSc (Honours) course commencing September 2025, and on days when not attending taught classes, will work in the team supporting all the environmental health functions, food safety, health and safety at work, public health, housing and pollution.
Building on the taught knowledge of the degree, you will develop the practical skills of an Environmental Health Practitioner, while learning from and supporting experienced professionals. Upon successful completion of the 4-year degree programme, you would have the opportunity to gain professional status as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
