Your role in our journey
As a Sport and Physical Activity Delivery Manager, you will provide operational leadership to the Sport and Physical Activity Team ensuring we help everyone in Barnsley experience the benefits of being more active. Your role will include: &nbsp;
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Being responsible for our service plan setting, delivery and performance.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Managing the Sport and Physical Activity Team.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Overseeing key work areas alongside project leads - including community development, active schools, walk-cycle-wheel behaviour change, Barnsley Bike Works service, events and marketing and communications. &nbsp;
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Performance management.

Working closely with colleagues in the team, across the council and a host of statutory, community and voluntary groups, you will lend your expertise to creating behaviour change, promoting physical activity, health, and wellbeing. Crucially, you’ll also help us to develop, deliver and evaluate projects that relate to tackling health inequalities. What’s more, you’ll help us to develop services, new approaches and play a key part in needs assessments and service reviews.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a mix of relevant qualifications with at least one being at level 6 or above, and extensive experience in the sport and physical activity sector. Your track record includes involvement in managing and securing funding, project management and the development of approaches to leading services and achieving outcomes. You’ve used evidence-based project and performance management techniques to drive successful change. With a flair for public engagement and partnership working, it is your talent for communication that really sets you apart.

Sport and Physical Activity Delivery Manager

An opportunity has arisen to work in our Resilient Communities Team as a Projects and Contracts Officer. We are looking for candidates with a passion for improving the lives of our residents, with vision and the ability to work effectively with partners to deliver excellent services and outcomes for our customers.
A comprehensive understanding and experience of working in a complex environment, planning and co-ordination, the commissioning process, contracting and performance monitoring is required.
The postholder will work within a portfolio that includes the management and delivery of the domestic abuse and the drug and alcohol strategies and the commissioning of associated services and projects.&nbsp;Supported accommodation for those with multiple needs and for those experiencing domestic abuse is also included in this portfolio. The post holder&nbsp;will report to the Team Leader.&nbsp;
The role will require the ability to manage complex programmes and have experience of responding to the requirements of external funding bodies which will include performance management and financial accountability.
You will assist in the development of local strategies and plans to improve outcomes for our residents, working in partnership with our service providers to investigate and develop innovative service delivery models to meet the needs of vulnerable people.
This role will work predominately across the combatting drugs and supported housing work programmes.
These programmes are inherently complex and subject to ongoing changes; consequently, comprehensive understanding of the National Drug Strategy is essential, including familiarity with relevant research and guidance that informs the provision of alcohol and drug treatment and support services—such as OHID and NICE guidance and recommendations.
Awareness of policies and legislation pertaining to supporting individuals with complex needs, particularly those residing in temporary supported accommodation, would be highly beneficial.
Additionally, knowledge of the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) would be advantageous.
You must also be able to display:
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An ability to interrogate and analyse data and information and produce quality documentation including reports to support system change and service delivery.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The ability to negotiate, influence and enthuse colleagues both internally and across partner agencies.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A commitment to working in collaboration with partners from all sectors including those with lived experience.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A clear commitment and proven ability to deliver high quality outcomes and performance with a drive and enthusiasm for change.

About the role:&nbsp;
In&nbsp;November 2024&nbsp;the government published ‘Keeping Children Safe, Helping Families thrive’ an ambitious programme of transformation for children social care and our partners. This will require whole-system approach to reforming services which will include considering the end-to-end system of support from universal services through to care. As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation and integration of the new children social care reforms.&nbsp;A key pillar of the reforms is the development of the&nbsp;multi agency&nbsp;safeguarding arrangements and this will be a pivotal element to the&nbsp;reforms&nbsp;activity.&nbsp;You will work closely with the Strategic Head of Service lead, various stakeholders, including, social care teams, and key partners including Police,&nbsp;Health&nbsp;and Education to ensure the reforms are effectively embedded into practice.&nbsp;
Key Responsibilities:&nbsp;

As a project manager you will need a minimum of a level 6 qualification and relevant programme or project management training.&nbsp;You will need experience of continuous service improvement and associated governance and assurance frameworks, with a strong enthusiasm for improving service delivery. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external&nbsp;stakeholders&nbsp;and you will need to be highly organised with the ability to&nbsp;prioritise conflicting workloads, working flexibly on your own initiative. An understanding or experience or working with children’s services would be desirable.&nbsp;
