As a valued member of our team, you will play an important role across all areas of the Bereavement Service, including: Chapel Duties – Welcoming families and Funeral Directors, ensuring services are conducted with dignity and run seamlessly. Cremation – Undertaking full training and working towards an accredited FBCA qualification, participating in the complete cremation process and the respectful management of ashes. Administration– Managing bookings for burials and cremations, verifying documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting families with enquiries. Contract Management – Overseeing contractors to ensure cemeteries are maintained to our service standards, including grounds care, site cleaning, and grave preparation. You will be based at our award-winning Oak Hill Lawn Cemetery &amp; Crematorium five days per week (including some Saturdays on a rota basis), with travel required to cemeteries and other council offices and sites across the borough. You will have a UK full driving license. The ability to converse with ease with members of the public and to provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post. Hertsmere Borough Council are recruiting for a Civil Enforcement Officer to join our existing team.
You will be required to patrol the streets and car parks and to carry out enforcement against illegally parked vehicles.&nbsp; You will also provide advice to members of the public and check that parking machines and equipment are in good working order.
The successful applicant will enjoy working outside and will be someone who can deal with members of the public in a helpful and diplomatic manner.&nbsp; You will need to use computerised equipment and personal safety equipment and gain an understanding of the legal requirements of the job.&nbsp; Applicants need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.&nbsp; Full training will be given so previous experience in a similar role is not essential.

Join Hertsmere Borough Council as a Housing Enforcement and Licensing Officer and play a vital role in ensuring safe, fair, and well-managed housing across the borough. In this dynamic position, you will deliver a comprehensive enforcement and licensing service, working closely with the Head of Strategic Housing and Housing Services and the Housing Enforcement and Licensing Manager. You’ll investigate complaints, carry out inspections, and take decisive enforcement action where required to improve housing standards. Your responsibilities will span a diverse range of areas, including oversight of high-rise buildings, mobile homes, caravans, gypsy and traveller sites, and compliance with the Renters Rights Act and Supported Housing Regulatory Oversight Act.
You will also lead work to bring empty homes back into use, managing complaints, inspections, reporting, and the application of enforcement powers, as well as coordinating related initiatives and grant schemes. In addition, you’ll take ownership of the licensing, inspection, and enforcement of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and properly managed. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a commitment to high housing standards, strong investigative skills, and a passion for supporting residents and improving the local community.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a solid understanding of housing issues, particularly in relation to licensing, housing enforcement, and empty homes. You will have experience working in a customer-facing environment, providing clear information and advice both in person and in writing, along with a background in the housing or environmental sector involving licensing and enforcement. Strong negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to analyse and organise information effectively for letters, reports, and enforcement actions. The role requires a full driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes, as well as a standard DBS check.

Hertsmere Borough Council are looking for Refuse/ Recycling Loaders, to join our efficient street cleansing, waste and recycling collection service within and around Hertsmere.
The job involves collecting all types of refuse and recycling waste, from litter bins, residential bins and trade bins, and loading them into the refuse vehicle.&nbsp; You will need to have excellent fitness levels and be capable of walking for 8 to 12 miles per day.
You will need proven experience of heavy manual work involving lifting, and be capable of pulling and emptying refuse bins.&nbsp; You should have a customer service approach to service delivery, communicating positively and working efficiently in a team.&nbsp; You should be self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.
