Ealing Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Research and Consultation Officer to join our Research and Insight team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping the council understand the needs, experiences and priorities of our residents, communities and businesses.You will design and deliver high-quality research, data analysis, and public consultations that directly inform decision-making across the council. You will also be part of a talented and supportive team that is orientated to think about new and innovative ways of delivering solutions to the key challenges and issues facing Ealing.Key responsibilities:<ul><li>Design, manage and analyse quantitative and qualitative research projects, including surveys, focus groups and interviews.</li><li>Deliver public consultations and engagement activities in line with statutory requirements and best practice.</li><li>Work collaboratively with internal teams to understand evidence needs and produce actionable insights.</li><li>Present findings through clear, accessible reports and data visualisations that influence decisions at all levels.</li><li>Support the development of the council’s corporate evidence base, ensuring consistency, transparency and quality.</li><li>Monitor emerging trends, resident feedback and local intelligence to inform service planning and policy development.</li></ul>You will have a strong background in research, consultation or data insight—ideally within a public sector or policy environment. You’ll be confident managing multiple projects, have excellent analytical and communication skills, and be passionate about using evidence to make a difference for local communities.You will need to demonstrate:<ul><li>Experience designing and delivering social research or consultation projects.</li><li>Strong analytical skills with experience using data and insight to inform decisions.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex findings clearly.</li><li>Understanding of consultation and engagement principles within a local government or public policy context.</li><li>Ability to build effective relationships across teams and work collaboratively.</li><li>Experience using both quantitative and qualitative tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or NVivo for analysis and reporting.</li><li>Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. Equalities Act, GDPR, Consultation principles).</li><li>Experience of using digital consultation platforms will be desirable.</li></ul>You must have the right to work in the UK. We need a qualified Trading Standards Practitioner to join our team to plan, lead and deliver our priorities.&nbsp; If leading high-level investigations or projects appeals to you, join us.&nbsp; We have major operations waiting to be launched.
These are active field officer posts and you will have to exercise warrants, pursue rogue traders and support victims.&nbsp; You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter and completer / finisher with good communication and negotiation skills.&nbsp; You will work in partnership with neighbouring North-East London authorities, Police, Fire, Customs, Home Office and other enforcement teams.&nbsp; You will need the full range of investigation and reporting skills, including appearance at Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a record of achievement and a commitment to supporting vulnerable victims, consumers and compliant businesses within the borough.
A full driving licence or alternative means of travel to multiple sites around the borough is essential.&nbsp; We provide electric pool cars and cycles, or a mileage allowance to enable travel.
